The serial # is 861316 and under that is w-100 I was hopeing to get parts for it so I could rebuild it and take it coon hunting like he did years ago.In addinton to the barrel it is cracked from the top down to the last digit in the serial #. Can some one tell me some history and What is broken on it so I could get parts.

What you need is the "Frame"....I have less than zero idea of where to find it. Major "gunsmithing" job...take all good parts out of old gun, tansfer to new frame....hmmmm

Get some glue, frame the gun with a picture of Gramps with an endearment, get a decent shooter.

The gun itself is broken, I don't think it can be fixed. If your buy a new "frame" you will be buying a new pistol (as the frame is the reciever, which needs the paperwork). I think it is best to glue it, make sure nobody ever shoots it, and put it up on display. Sorry

Hey daggar dog I don't have the catalog so could you link it to me from their website. I can't figure out how to use their search in the frames, reciver, and complete guns. thanks

The frame is the gun, legally speaking, since it is the serial numbered part. Buying a new frame is the same as buying another gun. If it were possible to find just a bare frame, the price would probably be not much different from a complete gun, and the paperwork and transfer requirements would be the same as buying a complete gun.

If your grandfather's gun were a car, the description would be "totaled". It would cost far more to repair than it would to replace. Just having a gunsmith remove the barrel and properly install it in a new frame would probably run more than a nice shooter grade example of a Double Nine would cost.

Get some JB-WELD and glue it back together and display it to remember the fond memories of your grandfather. Get another to shoot.

Savage ,

I checked the website at Numrich, on the High Standard Double Nine, series W100 and the W101-104
they don't list the "frame" in any model in stock at this time.

They buy used guns, gun parts, close outs and stock from any maker that goes out of business, so they may aquire a part at some time in the future.

Sorry bud , it may be time to make Grandads smokepole a wallhanger.

Buy another one, They are fairly easily had around the gun shows and are relatively in expensive.....then mount that old one on a plaque with the inscription............
"Worlds Hardest Coon Skull"
