we should be promoting non-violent ways to get even with the city counsel and county commisioners in the event our homes are stolen.

You could call their home and office every 10 minutes from a different pay phone.. "sir when will you stop calling me?"
"When you stop this plan to steal my house!"

You could picket the business that is built where your house was..
giant signs that read "The city stole my house and underpaid me for it, to build this minimall!"

See above but picket the buisinesses that the city counsel members own!

And if you have lots of paitence and skill you could run for office and tear down the homes of the former city counsel members and build a Public Fitness course! to promote general wellness...

Get creative and get even, use the system to beat the system at it's own game.

this isn't quite a call to arms yet... But I'm going to stock up on the Ammo...
 
You didn't tell me how to walk away, Brett. Do you have nothing in your life that you simply can't sacrifice for the dubious comfort of revenge?
 
Respect is earned - not a perk that comes with a title.

Integrity, another highly regarded quality in my book.

Behaviors of Persons, Entities, nor Gubmint of late have NOT exhibited any Respect or Integrity.

I don't take too kindly being dis-respected. I damn sure don't to having MY integrity questioned.

My feelings to those that attack my integrity :

I doubt that the government is, as yet, interested in using eminent domain to take away my family. To say that I would be irrate if they used it to take away my home, also built with my own hands, on my family's land that I grew up on, is putting it mildly. But, much as I would enjoy obtaining revenge on anybody to tried it, I'd rather do so in a way that let me keep the family, and my life with 'em.

Or to coin an aphorism, I have things I'd kill for, but only people I'd die for.
 
When revenge is done, it's done, and there's nothing left. You can only kill a person once. Revenge could never begin to replace the years of hard work and sacrifice I made for this piece of land which is my daughter's future inheritance. Take the money and walk away? Walk away to where? When they can then simply take the new place as well?

I ask again,
What is left for me now????????
What is there which can persuade me to remain a good little subject?????
 
I'm not suggesting you remain a good little subject. I'm suggesting that you should, if that happens, pursue your vengence in a manner that leaves your daughter with her father, if not that inheritance.

Since it's not like they're going to say, after they've gunned you down, "Oh well, if he felt that strongly about it, we'll let his heirs keep the land!"

No, you didn't say that. I didn't mean to imply that you had, it was more of a thinking out loud sort of thing. as in, "what are they thinking?" I don't believe the supreme court could have picked a topic that resonates more with Joe and Jane sixpack. What motivation does the common man have left? Cable tv and beer are no good without a home. See, this won't affect only land owners, but renters, as well. When you're suddenly given notice to pack up and get out of the apartment you've lived in for 20 years, under rent control, where do you go?

Even if I was offered a fair value, how can I start over, knowing the sprawl will follow me, and I might have to sell again when I'm old?

As for what you said about leaving my daughter with her father still alive, well.......
I don't yet know what to do, should it come down to a choice. Can I sell out my integrity and live with myself after I roll over for the government? Can I leave this for my daughter to deal with after I'm dead and gone?

Actually, I have read it, several times. As a manual for revenge, it's pretty good.
However, revenge is a cold and lonely thing to wrap yourself in at night while the wind howls. I just don't know.

Ultimately, we each must decide when enough is enough. We each must decide for ourselves what course is best, when the Republic begins to crumble. We live in uncertain times, times which try men's souls.

What ever I decide, it must be a morally correct course of action, for I would not wish to cast dishonor upon my family or gods.

I find myself reflecting now upon these words from the Havamal:

I have seen several comments about someone having an "Alamo" stand at their residence. Of course, the press will have a field day about the "wacko" that went ballistic, and the anti-gun crowd will have a field day.

However, I think what many are missing is that there are a lot homeowners who know better, and wouldn't want to harm police officers doing their job.

It is entirely possible that at some point in time, someone who has lost their home, and has nothing left to lose, may simply take the money and begin planning to deal with the real thieves. (Contrary to what some government officials may think, there ARE some intelligent homeowners in our society.)

So, for the government officials that envision some "Deliverance" movie type homeowner making a stand against the cops, it would behoove them to consider what THEY, with their superior intelligence, would do.

Would they make a hopeless stand against the SWAT teams of several jurisdictions? I think they are more intelligent than that.

What I think they DON'T realize is that there are ordinary, law abiding citizens with the same comprehension.

Inevitably, they are going to destroy someones life who understands the real culprits, and will not resist the police. That hypothetical home owner or business owner might take the cash they are offered and disappear from the mainstream. When they begin hunting the local and/or state officials and business people who destroyed their life, it will be very difficult to apprehend them. (The Beltway snipers, due to their "invisibility" in the system were very difficult to apprehend, and all the "psychological" profiles proved to be wrong when they were eventually captured.)

This decision by the Supreme Court is almost incomprehensible to me.

I cannot imagine what the next step will be. I can only hope that our elected officials in the legislative branch will exercise their authority to reign in what appears to be an out of control judiciary.

There is still hope, and I pray that our republic's Founding Fathers foresight and faith in a government with a system of checks and balances will prevail.

If that fails, may God have mercy on us all.

I really don't know what to make of this whole situation. Yes, the SCOTUS' decision stinks.:barf: Yes, there could be bloodshed. :fire: No, not everybody will give a damn. :cuss: But at what point does this ball start to roll, whichever way it does? :confused:

Anybody up to starting a non-profit property defense organization? I'm sure you would get plenty of volunteers and plenty of nay-sayers, at least until something happens in their backyard. :uhoh:

One thing I just don't understand...

about many of these posts are references to people "just doing their job", or officers "with kids at home" etc..

I'll spare you the flippant "There were a heck of a lot of Nazis just following orders" and get to the heart of it:

There are lots of vocations in this country where people fairly exchange property for services or goods... where nobody uses force and nobody gets hurt, and everybody goes home. Some homes are barely livable, some modest, some extravagant, but everybody eats, gets up, and gets along for the most part. Most people don't (and couldn't or wouldn't) make a living at the cost of displacing families just like theirs, for no sin greater than having desireable real estate.

Last night I laid around with my son, and all I could think is "A lot I told you about this great country you were going to live in is a lie now. It was true when I told you, but not anymore."

If those who would enforce such madness don't have the heart or sense to look at their own kids and realize they are cementing the robbing of their birthright as well... :barf:

Sorry, but "Just doing my job" doesn't get it anymore. There are plenty of "other jobs" to be done.

Sounds like a good idea. Or even just a organized group to help out some homeowner in trouble. Everyone involved in the area can swarm the local officials (city/county/state) with calls, emails, etc. Even use the power of the internet to hit these companies hard with boycots, etc. hammer them with emails and calls. They wont build in an area thats not economically viable to them... so lets make it that way!

Not necessarily by showing up armed to the teeth, but we can try other means FIRST. Just like the Minutemen down on the border... the govt refuses to look out for us... so we have to look out for eachother... except instead of illegals, its the govt!!! who'da thought.

Im willing to work for those in my area, and if anyone hears of a story locally... post it here (maybe a new THR forum?) and we can all get to work with the emails, etc. We can really get to these guys, there are a lot of us, and especially if there is a following on all of the WebBoards, even the lefties. Just think, Your neightbor's house is going to be turned into a Pizza Hut. And they get bombarded locally and then nationally from all of us on the 'net.... might make them think that finding a less controversial location is the way to go.

Like I said, its a start. But its best to take these means before taking up arms. There is a time for everything, but make sure that you have exhausted all means possible before pulling your triggers... and make damn sure that the general public and the media know that you have tried everything!

This option needs to be made un-palatable. :cuss:
 
Let's not forget, the Supreme Court in Roe v Wade gave people the right to kill children. One that's done, taking someones property is a walk in the park.
 
It'd be nice if this thread about a very important subject didn't get shut down over stupid arguements about a volatile, dead horse of a subject not remotely related to the topic at hand. :fire:

Can we please keep abortion out of this property seizure thread? :cuss:
 
Funny, I thought this thread was about the Supreme Court. Sorry for mentioning some of their earlier rulings.
