How often do you clean your pistols?

When I get home from the range, I pull the bore snake through it 4 or 5 times, wipe it off, and put it away. Nothing more than that. Once a year they get a good cleaning, usually during the winter, after hunting season is over.

I clean them after they get shot, wipe the fingerprints off and put them away. That's about it.

I shoot about once every week or two. Clean my handgun after each range trip. Actually, I really enjoy cleaning my handgun - and, I like clean guns too.

1911 nailed it for me. I shoot twice/week+ on avg.

9mm CZ comp/range Pistol with light springs: I usually wipe it down and very lightly oil the slide rails and mag release before shooting again. When it looks embarassing, I do clean behind the extractor and sometimes the bbl. Spray brake cleaner is my friend for the extractor, FP channel and sear area cleaning when I get the urge which is not often.
A shooter friend also taught me to always excercise it well before a match after cleaning it ..

My HS .22 bought NIB in '73, It gets wiped off and I oil the rails and use a very little clp on the FC assmbly. looks NIB today. Has a bazillion rds through it.

I clean mine after every outing where I shoot them. If they're just in the safe not being shot every 3-6 months.

My EDC LCP every couple of weeks.

I clean my guns after every range use....even my Glocks. Well...almost every time. Glocks are more forgiving.

I actually enjoy cleaning my guns.

I can't abide dirty equipment of any kind, so mine are cleaned after every use.

I clean my 2 carry guns every time I fire them but I usually run at least 100 rounds through each one when I do shoot them. I clean .22s every time even if I shoot 1 mag. By cleaning I mean bore cleaner, brush, q-tip, oil and wipe down. I do not break them down unless I feel they need more which is every 3-4 trips.

When I shoot a lot it will usually involve 8-10 guns at least. Cleaning and reloading mags is a full day's work.

I carefully field strip each firearm after a range visit. My CCW and .22's get the most attention. I know Glocks don't really need much cleaning but I feel better after cleaning my G36.

Everytime I shoot them. Problem is I haven't shot anyone lately!

Seriously, I do clean them after shooting, which is fairly often as I shoot my carry gun weekly and usually take one or two others along as well. I have two safe queens (dad's bring backs) that are cleaned every few month. Although cleaning the safe queens is usually a quick wiping down and lubricating for preservation.

I clean mine whenever I think they need it.

I use the same cleaning schedule on Crescent wrenches and other tools as well.... But the guns get cleaned a little more often to inhibit corrosion. I don't worry so much about that with other hand tools.

If a gun is fired, it gets cleaned. Guns are like teeth, you certainly don't have to brush and floss every day but if you do, your teeth they'll last longer, look better and do a better job along the way.

It's a personal choice to me like so many other things and cleaning guns is just a part of the fun. My wife often jokes that the reason I shoot is so I can drink beer an clean guns in solitude . Just me, the guns and a good brew.

My carry gun always gets cleaned right after I shoot. I usually do the same with the others, sometimes I go two trips on my range before they get cleaned.

Sorry, but I have to ask... Do you clean your car and PM the engine after every drive? ;)
I don't know if that will make it last longer or work better, but it would certainly look nice as long as you owned it. :)
