Traded a rifle I had 300.00 in for a huglu o/u shotgun today new in box
looks decent very tight. Can't find any model# on it but on the website
for huglu says msrp is around 700 on engraved model like I have. Does
anyone have any dealings with these guns? I think I got a decent deal
for the money.

Take it out and pattern it.If it shoots where it's looking with field or target loads and doesn't beat you to death, you got a GREAT deal. If not, you've been had to the tune of $300.

I'm reluctant to say nice things about inexpensive doubles made in the Third World. Quality seems to be widely varied, and oft warranty work is a cruel joke.

However, the grapevine says Huglus are good guns for the money. I doubt they'll hold up to heavy use like a Superposed or 682E, but for hunting and occasional target fun, they should last for decades.

HTH and good luck...

Do a search at www.sportingclays.net in their forum section and you will find lots of info on Huglus. I purchased a 20ga side by side last year. I like it a lot. It is from DeHaan Shotguns in Rigsby, Idaho. The owner, Mark DeHaan, is a standup guy. Very nice to deal with and he stands by the products he sells. Mine has nice wood, 100% engraving, single selectable trigger, screw in chokes (came with 5 tubes) and a nice leather luggage case for under $1000. Did I say I like it a lot?

It claimed its share of dove- which is its primary mission. I found out that the splinter fore end is NOT conducive to clay shooting- unless you have an asbestos hand!
