I have belonged to a few other gun forums, for the most part they are pretty good. There are some bad ones. They are generally lackluster, repetitive, or just plain mean spirited. Funny how a forum can take on the character of the person that runs it....

The best sites have Owners/Admins that are really interested and participate in the discussions. Post pics of their own guns, interests, and encourage new member participation. They are upfront and straightforward. Kind of folks you wouldn't mind shooting the breeze with in person....

The Gun Folks notice and tend to gravitate to places that are fresh and interesting....

Just wanted to say that THR is one of the best....and it is a pleasure to be a member.......:)

Although I'm not part of many gun forums, I like it here too. I'm really glad that I was able to find it amongst all the other crap on the interweb.
 
I agree. Right now I am just completing a self imposed "silent protest" over the incessant whining of children who seem to be old enough to buy guns. I wrote to the mods of that forum and told them to "ban" me for 30 days.

You never know what you've got until it's gone. I feel I have some real friends here, and I hope we protect this place.
 
I agree, I only belong to two gun forums but have looked at quite a few. THR is the friendliest forum i have belonged to. It is not mean spirited and the folks don't bash your gun as they do on other forums (ar15.com).
The spirit of this site is good, its why I keep coming back.
 
I'm a member of quite a few forums, but THR is the one I always gravitate to for the majority of the time I'm on the internet. Some other forums I belong to mainly for a specific reason, like I needed to find some information on a certain gun, etc. But if I just want to hang out somewhere and, pardon the pun, shoot the breeze with other members (always in a civil and friendly manner, by the way), then this is the place where I want to be.
 
I am a member of 4 gun/hunting forums counting this one. I tend to spend twice as much time here than the other 3 combined.
 
for sure you said it best. I belong to so many other forums. but always ask my self why people are there. The only two active forums i am on are. THR and Calguns. probably there is about 6 more that i just wont go on anymore. its the same thing when ever im on. so i just dont bother.
 
I agree! Great site, great people, great mods.
I enjoy reading this site, I just don't post much because i always stick my literal foot in my mouth.
 
I belong to about 4 other forums. This is my favorite by far. According to the last poll here most of the members are about my age. They have, on average, the same political, social and other beliefs that I hold. It's kinda like a second home to me. Lots of super good information too. Great moderators, very High Road. Very very little bashing heckling etc.. Good Job guys, lets keep it up!!!
 
I really like the lack of profanity. Makes it family friendly. Not that I don't curse occasionally when called for but being able an express an idea without profanity seems to be a lost art these days.

Yup...THR is a great site. I have met so many wonderful folks here that I just keep coming back. :scrutiny: How do people put up with me?!

I can't argue with you all! I belong to a handful of other forums and this is the one that is at the top of my Favorites. Bar none this is the best forum for reloading help and info!! :)
 
I like that the tone here is the same that you would find at a family reunion; nothing said here that isn't for gramps or the grandkids.

It really does show how unnecessary profanity is.
 
I like THR for two reasons:

- No offtopic political discussion. As long as you're for gun ownership and safety, THR doesn't care if you're Democrat or Republican, Muslim or Christian, gay or straight.

- No profanity.
 
I like it here at THR because I can learn from people who know a lot that I don't know, who overlook or forgive my lack of social skills.

Strict adherence to the purposes of the forum means that people who hold the same beliefs that I do on non-THR-related topics don't bore me by reiterating them endlessly, and people with different beliefs and I don't pick fights with each other.

We write about guns and we enjoy each other's company.

At any rate, guess I should have added a big note of thanks to the Admins/Moderators for keeping this a civil place where folks are meant to feel welcome. Folks just seem to behave like their in someone else's living room instead of the Internet:)
