I think I need to be committed to a institution... I kinda want a .40 S&W Sigma.

Another great write up starling. Too bad I can only give you one "like". And I have heard the bad mouthing for years and never understood why people trashed them. I thought they were a good $300 gun. For three hundred bucks what did people expect? The overiding complaint was the trigger. If you don't like the trigger then don't buy the gun. But since I have shot double action revolvers double action so long the trigger was never a big concern to me.

The new SD version does have a better trigger over the SW version. And I like the grip and texture a lot on the SD. And the dovetailed metal sights on the SD. Its funny that you don't hear many complaints about the Hi-Point pistols, they are just affordable guns that seem to always work. But its fashionable to bash the S&W guns that also always work.

Well ....you are a nice fellow. I appreciate the the thought. The internet firearms community would do well to clone your in efforts to promote good manners and friendly conversation with those who share enthusiasm for firearms.

The Sigma/SD pistols have a great price point for what you are getting. Like I said, bang for the buck they are one of the very best. Hi points get bashed as well...or at least they use to. They are fine. Entirely different animal than the sigma design wise. A very sound and stong design though for what they are. I have no problem whatsoever with them.

One thing I do really like on the SD Sigmas is there is a little more of a palm swell on the grips. If s&w ever does a gen 5 on the sigma/SD I would like to see them make it modular with a steel subframe. I dont see them ever going reversing the cost cutting measures they made for the SDs. A steel subframe would be a fine upgrade for the SIgma line and open up some options. I really wish they would have left the cosmetics alone...keep the sigma look and let the M&P have its own identity. Copying the asthetics of their own product was always a silly move IMO.....Unless they were going to discontinue the M&P and everyone knew that wasnt going to happen. I believe (theory) it was just a move to try and distance them from the name Sigma due to all the false propoganda that seemed to flow through the internet for so long.

I like my S&W40VE. I guess it's a 2nd or 3rd gen. Sigma. I've only had it for a couple months and got it from someone who bought it new and never fired it. I've only put 130 rounds through it and it worked just fine. I don't know why some bash it.

A lot of it started with Glock vs Sigma. IMO... in different ways both beat out the other. So it really boils down to personal preference and what you are looking for. I dont dislike Glock pistols. They are good pistols for what they are.

I am not a brand snob either though. I love Berettas but actually prefer the Taurus.

my sigmas are not stock by the way. I do add some things to get them how I like them.
