If limited to two handguns....

2 pistol limit

German hunters are allowed 2 pistols on their Jagdschein.
I have a Rossi 720 .44 special and a .22 Hammerli excess plinker.

I'd have to keep one 1911 and one revolver. I'd probably keep my Ed Brown and a S&W 686 (for veratility). I don't think I'm cheating on the question to say I'd also keep the .22 conversion kit for the 1911 (Wilson Combat). With the price of ammo that would be a big consideration

I'd want to know if this law defines:
A) .22 LR Conversion kit 'counts' as another handgun?
3) or if a drop In barrel in a different caliber, also would
count as another handgun.

THere was a post by a fellow in Sweden who said citizens
are llimited to 6 hendguns, and each one must be justified for
an activitiy, target or competition of some kind as handgun hunting
is verbotten.

But given you're in EUrope seems a 9MM, like a CZ 75B in
9MM would be a good choice because of ammo availability, and
if the Kadet .22 LR conversion kit doesn't count, the second choice
would be a long barreled .44 mag.IF handgun hunting was
allowed, If not I'd get a 1911 in .45 ACP with a spare
barrel in .400 CorBon to maximize my shooting experience as
I prefer Semi-Autos.

Just FYI - About Sweden, A T/C Contender, EACH barrel counts as
another handgun.

ALso, I found out with the CZ 75B the 4.7 Barrel/slide can be swapped
with the Compact 3.9" Bbl./Slide That's kinda apealing since I have found
with the OWB holster I have for my full size 1911 - a Milt SParks Axiom it's
not the grip/frame/rear part of the slide that is hard to conceal it's the
bottom part of the holster and the length of the full-size 5" Bbl/slide that
requires a lengthy coat or vest to conceal. I've since found out that the
Milt SParks 55BN is a bit higher rriding and available in a crossdraw. hmmm.

In some of these countries, I'd rather set the limits on politicians, not guns. Anyway, since the Austrians also most likely limit the magazine size, I'd go with:

1) S&W 686-1 4-inch
2) Ruger Mark II Standard .22LR

I am actually down to 3 right now. After buying and selling dozens of pistols I have settled on the 1911 platform. I would keep my Colt/Marvel Unit 1 22lr because it is super accurate and I could hunt and shoot targets using a wide variety of ammunition. If I lived in a rural area I would choose my custom Delta Elite 10mm as my second pistol. If I lived in the city then I would choose my Kimber Pro Carry in 9mm. Regardless, IMHO one of your choices should be a 22lr.

A .22 conversion will soon be available for the P220, so I would have that as well.

I really sorta wish you hadn't posted that. I was unaware of that conversion kit. My P220 has languished in the back of the pile for a while now. I may have to see what I think of it as a .22.

Probably two of the three guns in my meager collection.

SA XD subcompact 9mm for CCW
Ruger GP100 4"

would be tough to give up the cheap plinking of the Single Six .22 though.

A Beretta 92FS and a Sig 229

WOW ... that makes 1 post for every year I've been here. :D

Two to go

one full sized 1911
one revolver with a 6" bbl. in .357 or 44 mag.

One for two legged predators, one to put food on the table.
