If You Were Glock CEO....

As boring as they are Glock doesn't have much incentive to mess with their handguns. They work and sell well - any serious changes there are not likely to result in any meaningful increase in sales.

I'd look at producing a rifle. You'd open up a lot of sales for Glock fans who all have a completely new product to buy. They already have manufacturing facilities in the US so they wouldn't need to worry about 922r compliance or import issues if they make them here.

Two things that are a complete no brainer are to make a PCC and to make a true double stack micro 9 with metal magazines to compete with the P365. I'm absolutely stunned that the 43, 43x, and 48 are still shipping with polymer single stack magazines while shield arms is selling double stack metal mags for them and sig and everyone else is shipping double stack micro 9's by the container full. Its absolutely astonishing to me that they are letting everyone eat their lunch.

Beyond that I think they really have to do some market research into the american consumer market and why non law enforcement customers are buying the competition. One of the biggest things I see is that the non duty consumer bases a lot of their decision on what they are just visually attracted too, and all glocks are still the same ugly blocky design from the early 80's, and people don't want to buy them because they think they are ugly and boxy and boring looking compared to some of the really visually attractive designs from say S&W, FN, Zev, or even Canik, ect... Some slide milling and designing a grip that is actually in the shape of a human hand, and some molded in stippling would go a long way to get people excited to buy their products. Choosing a pistol is just as much an emotional choice as a practical one for a lot of people, especially if it's not necessarily their carry gun.

Well with their success came a lot of competitors. S&W, Springfield, Sig, HK, and countless others all have polymer pistols that are as simple, as reliable, etc. In several cases, for even less money. And competition like this has to be eating into their market share.

Ironic as H&K invented the platform.
Focus on commercial sales, the market they once had with most police and federal agents carrying them?

There are only 600k LEO officers in the USA.. They have been selling millions for commercial purposes.

A Glock carbine might draw my intrest.. I own plenty of Glock pistols but wont buy another no matter what they try and change.

It seems that most of y’all would try to do, is what several other companies have done in the pass, with little to no success.
Just remember, S&W once had shotguns and rifles in their lineup.
Colt once made hunting rifles, and way back in the day, even made shotguns. They even put out one of the worst polymer pistol ever made.
How many times has Colt filed bankruptcy?
How many times has S&W been sold off over the years.
Where is Remington right now?
Now for those that don’t know, Glock has changed the shape of the grip frame a few times over the years. They even made one with a more aggressive texture that didn’t go over as good as they thought it would. That would be the Gen3 RTF2.

If I was made CEO of Glock, the first thing I would do is look into the company and see what they already have in the works, then go from there.

I probably wouldn't do very much. Glock's success has been built on the simplicity of their design.

Eventually they're going to get overtake by someone else that makes a really simple gun even better. One thing that's been in their favor though is that so much of their market is law enforcement and law enforcement as an institution is extremely resistant to change.

A 43x/48 in 10mm first on the list. Glock is the 350 Chevy engine of guns. You can get anything you want for it to customize it. Sell the units as they are now and let the consumer modify it if they want .they always run out of the box and are dependable out of the box. For me I'll choose sights, optics, trigger pull etc.Glock custom shop would be cool, but being so easy to work on,and doing the work myself for me is half the fun.

As usual you have the haters and those who like them. I doubt Glock is hurting in anyway and does not need to change a thing. I doubt Glock is run by Fudds either. Buy what you like and like what you buy...ymmv

The Glock grip angle was designed for a reason and that is why most inexperienced shooters shoot a Glock better than guns with other grip angles. It only causes problems for guys who are experienced with other guns. And it isn't hard to adapt to. That is the last thing I'd change on a Glock.

I agree with that. My first handgun was a Glock and before it, I had only shot the Beretta 92 once. Grip memory wasn't an issue for me. Fast forward a couple of decades and the Glock grip angle feels as "natural" as it could be.
The CZ P-09 has a reputation to be an accurate pistol, for what it is - I shoot the Glock 17.5 more accurately.

I would learn what the word 'ergonomics" means.

No kidding. I don't own a Glock because of its ridiculously awkard grip. I'd redesign the grip to be less deep at the butt, and get rid of that sharply raked-back angle, and adjust to a John-Browning angle. Then, I'd give it an extended, fully ambidextrous slide release (a la Walther PPQ). And just for good measure I'd offer left-hand eject models.

Yeah no need to change what works! That’s why Colt is still dominating the market with the 1911 and police positive!

Here's some ideas, varying from practical to stupid:

Modular PCC in common calibers. Bonus points for a 10mm model that will also safely shoot 40 without modification. It would probably be direct blowback to keep the price low.

Single Stack 10MM in 2 barrel lengths (i.e. G29/G20)

Double Stack high capacity 5.7 to compete with SW, Ruger & FN. I have a feeling this one would look pretty weird. Also available in carbine.

I'd add the option of frame mounted safety for a small markup.

All G43/48 guns would be converted to double stack while keeping external dimensions the same

Complete multi-caliber gun kits with matching barrels, springs etc. Ex:A 45 that comes with everything needed to shoot 460 Rowland and 45 Super. A 10mm with 40sw, 357 sig, and 9x25dillon barrels.

Direct to consumer sales of custom configured Glocks. Add-ons like upgraded sights, custom cerakotes, competition triggers, all available from directly Glock. Similar to how SIG will let you build a P320 on their website.

A Glock 42 frame chambered for rimfire. Obviously 22LR but also some weird ones like 17WSM or 17hmr.

Get rid of 45GAP and make a 50GI.

Open up a primer and ammo manufacturing company specifically for Glock.

Release a line of aftermarket steel and alloy frames to replace the plastic ones. Don't ask me why.

A Glock 19 pistol that contains a .50cal inline muzzleloader barrel. The slide moves back just enough to place a percussion cap.

Magazines, sold by the foot. Want 125rd stick mag? That'll be 6ft sir.

Last, a hammerfired DA only model that looks identical to a G19 externally. Just for giggles.

I think I'd be removed as CEO pretty quick.

Why should Glock do anything?. Seems like they are doing very well Who said they need to change?
Sure some of the suggestions would be nice but not enough to change their whole market structure,

Their design and production is simple and perfect. All they do is make guns a little smaller or bigger but most parts are the same.
I really do not like them but can't argue with success.

Don't they still sell millions to the public and have great contracts with LE agency's??

Good question, outside of more pistol offerings (Glocks, not 1911's etc) perhaps make more knives and if a rifle were to happen, it has to be unique, not an AR/AK pattern but something from the ground up.

This is thread drift but if I were CEO of Glock,
I'd probably have enough money to buy a
Korth revolver, a Janz revolver, a bunch of
Wilson autos and Nighthawk autos along
with custom Hi Powers, S&W revolvers
and a whole passel of Colt revolvers and
auto pistols and a few SIGs too. :):):)

He is worth Billions. You’re talking pocket change. $300,000.00+ rifles and shotguns is more in line.

I am one of the many who does not like the Glock's Lugeroid grip angle.
I see that the Laugo Alien lineup now has a "Creator Edition" with 1911ish angle, a step in the right direction.

So if I were the HMFIC I would look into the possibility of a grip with less rake.
The Platypus manages to use Glock magazines in a 2011 shaped butt.
