Probably a stainless bolt action .30 '06 with a scope and synthetic furniture and a stainless mid-size double action .357.
For most rifle uses, as much as we all hate to admit it, a regular "hunting rifle" will do OK.
And if I can only have one handgun it's going to have to be able to do a lot of things fairly well, the .357.
And I admit that right now, I own neither of those.
Really, rather than worrying about some law, I'm kind of likely to impose these limits on myself.
I'm becoming kind of a minimalist - just don't see any reason to have a huge stack of guns around anymore and I get more enjoyment out of a few that I really like anyhow. I'll never get down to one of each but I can see myself getting down to maybe three of each and a couple rimfires.
