This pistol is built by Shooter Arms Manufacters (S.A.M.) in the Philippines, and is imported by American Tactical Imports (ATI). I have a custom 1911 built on a SAM frame and slide. They make good stuff

The Fatboy Lightweight is a compact, high capacity 1911 with an alloy frame.

I'm really liking this pistol. It is nice and light for comfortable carry. It gives you 12 rounds of .45 ACP in its double stack magazine, but it is paper thin grip panels, so the grip isn't much thicker than a conventional 1911.

I held one last week. It feels nice. Nicer in fact than a conventional 1911. The one I held was the all steel version. The guys at the gun store tell me the new one comes with a polymer frame. We measured the grip both width and length (grip ony) with a digital caliper and it came in a tad under the co-owner's full size conventional 1911.

If I were in the market for a 1911 platform I would be taking a second look.
