Indian Summer Shoot

Spent the last two days at our local club's Fall Indian Summer Shoot. Lots of
traders there and we had 70 shooters. Club furnished a great chili supper Sat.
night. Lots of good story telling and music. I even played my banjo. Great
weather. Now to the shooting. I shot the revolver and did poorly . Didn't even
place. I think my shooting days are over. I'm 70 and I have had a good run .
No complaints here. Wife shot the women's rifle agg. It was 4 matches Two at
25 yds, one at 50 and one at 100. The matches are 5 shot each. She had shot
the 25 yd matches then on her last shot the nipple blew out. She's uses a rifle
that she built and it has a drum & nipple. She couldn't get the gun to fire so
I was called over to help. I took out the nipple and put some 4 F in then only
put the nipple about halfway back in. I had put too much powder in and couldn't
get the nipple in any further . I held it out at arm's length and when it went,
So did the nipple. Well there she was, two more matches to shoot and no gun.
The hood of our car had fallen down on her left hand about three days ago and
she couldn't hold up anyone else's gun that was offered to her. It put too much
pain on her left hand. The threads were stripped out in the drum. I spent about
two hours trying to fix it. Even took out a drum from a friend's gun but the
thread was different. Finally tried a new nipple that had never been in a gun with
Teflon tape on the threads. I put it in and we took a chance. It worked!! She
was a little jumpy, but she shot a very good score on the 50 yd, and the 100
yd match was outstanding with a score of 42 offhand. The 10 ring is only about
two inches in dia. Well she won the women's rifle agg. Sunday she shot pistol.
She made a clean sweep in the pistol matches. So she had a good weekend.
Her hand is swollen up some from shooting her rifle 20 shots, but she is a tough
old girl. She's happy. Did take a picture of pistol targets. One was just a 5 shot
match, the other a 10 shot. Thanks for reading this.

Phil, is that the brand new or older Remington???

Wife did not shoot revolver. That was with her single shot. I shot the new
revolver. After working on her rifle Sat I really was in no condition to shoot
Sunday, but I had already signed up for it so I did. No regrets. I was just too
worn out and the Remington was just too heavy for me to hold out. Life goes on
