Here is a picture of me giving a bunch of French persons advise on rifle maintenance.
The wierd thing is none of them speak English, and I dont speak French.

I guess guns have thier own language.

BTW my position is in the foreground. :)

Downrange

They are a bunch of great guys... we have a lot of fun despite the language barrier.

Baffles to absorb the strays from really bad shooters...

It does catch the strays when we are shooting auto's or bup firing...

Sometimes we set up escargot shells on the back stop and shoot them against the clock with .22's
Anyone who tells you the French dont like guns.. dont really know them.

Cool range. Doesn't look like there would be a lot of wind to deal with unless it got pretty bad.

It does get interesting at times. Farms all around...

I bet the French left thinking "What the hell did he say?" and "How do I drop my rifle at the first sign of trouble?"

"How do I drop my rifle at the first sign of trouble?"

Got anything more original than that eddy?

BTW, cool thread Afy!
Speaking of foreigners, there were quite a few at the former range I was going to. A few of us Froggies spoke English, so we had no problem to communicate with each other, but I imagine it's not always easy for you in your part of the hexagon.

You shoot snail shells...against the clock... that's funny in every country. :D

Neat photographs and a job well done, Afy!

OK, I plugged it into a translator for everyone:

Look at these arrogant Americans, they are astounded that we can draw directly and that we do not fill ceiling with holes as they make. We have carried out for the powerful Germans, but the Americans allowed Mexico, the weakest nation on ground, on several occasions invade them for decades.

I am glad that your experience in France was a good one. My wife and I could definitely do without going back. Never got to do any shooting though.

:)

Come on guys, show a little class. This is the High Road, after all. We have several longtime members from France on this board. I think they deserve a little more respect than that.

The baffles are even held up by rudimentary wooden "roman" columns; at least that's what those little support moldings make it look like. Again, something like that would lest 1 day at an American range before Bubba shot it up- either accidentally or on purpose.

Actually the columns are concrete with several layers of wood and glass wool. The baffles have a conrete backstop with several layers of particle board and wood in front.

Nice range. My only thought is that it would be a little loud shooting hi-power with the cinder block walls to bounce the sound right back at you. :uhoh:

Speedo... not so much that you would notice it. Most of us are not shooting Magnums with huge muzzle brakes so it isnt too bad.
30 Cal yes it is 100 meters.
There are also a few 25 meter, and 50 meter lanes. Though the group I shoot with, tends to stick to 100.
