Are they in caliber 7.62 or 5.45?

Just about any rifle can, including, yes, any AK series chambered in 7.62x39mm. III is another story, but neither 5.45x39mm nor 5.56x45mm nor 7.62x39mm nor even 7.62x51mm can.mcooper said:Um...I think rifle rated armor plates that were worn by soldiers only became avaiable in the 80's...at least to a decent degree. And an 7.62x39 should easily penetrate IIIA armor. I'd gladly eat crow if wrong...but I'm stating what I know for fact.
there have been thousands of flukes over in the sand box.7.62 was obsolete against post 70's personal body armour.

A few million rounds of finicky US purchasers in a fluctuating market against a US backed guaranteed contract for God knows how many million rounds.
I'd pick the safe bet too......
the only insurgents that I saw with body armor was the ones working for the IP's by day and badguys by night, but their body armor left alot to be desired! Are the entire terrorists organizations being armed with personal body armour?
