Welcome to the June Rimfire Match! This one is open to any and EVERY 22 caliber (as well as 17 and 20 caliber) rimfire rifle including 22 Mag, 17HMR, and 5mm Rem RF Mag. This match is meant to be challenging and FUN. Hopefully it will get you out to the range and shooting your rifle. If you have one handy, make sure an bring a friend too.

You may enter with multiple rifles.

There is Two Optics Divisions:
->25 yards for iron sights and non-magnified optics and red dots
->50 yards for any Scope or Magnified sighting device.
Please note the change in distance. We are back to yards!

There are Two Rifle Classes:
->Unlimited/Target Rifles (highly modified rifles, rests, target sights, high magnification optics- over 10x [in the appropriate division] may be used)
->Sporting Rifles (Includes All Non-Target Class Autoloaders, Bolt Actions, Single Shots, Pumps, & Lever Rifles)

Target Class can be shot from any position, Sporting Class is shot from any position without a rest or sandbags. When you are satisfied you've done your best post (or shoot me a PM) a photo of your target for scoring with the following information. The Targets Will Be Included (or linked) Below...

Non Magnified Target: 25Yd. Target- Take THREE shots at each bull, for a total of 15 shots. Scored as follows:

Corner Bulls: 3 points for each round in the bull. 1 point for each round in the colored area.
Center Bull, same as Corners except: 2 points for each round in the colored diamond outside the bull, 1 point for each round in the outer diamond.
10 extra points for all 3 rounds in a bull. The shots have to be CLEARLY FULLY inside the black to get the bonus, but only touching for the 3 points worth.

Magnified Target: 50Yd. Target- Same Rules As Above...

Self-scoring is encouraged and appreciated. All submissions due before July 1st, 2010.

Hi, Mav. Here's a target we used about a year ago (with gvnwst) that I thought was a really fun to shoot, and challenging.

Scoring
Take THREE shots at each bull, for a total of 15 shots.

Corner Bulls:
3 points for each round in the bull. Total of 9 per.
1 point for each round in the colored area.

Center Bull, same as Corners except:
2 points for each round in the colored diamond outside the bull, 1 point for each round in the outer diamond.

10 extra points for all 3 rounds in a bull. The shots have to be CLEARLY FULLY inside the black to get the bonus, but only touching for the 3 points worth.
Max points = 9 * 5 = 45
Max bonus = 10 * 5 = 50
Max score = 45 + 50 = 95.

Range
25 yards for iron sights and non-magnified optics and red dots

50 yards for any Scope or Magnified sighting device.

Position Any

I really liked this one because while I felt a perfect score was possible, but proved to be very elusive!

That's my vote, at least for a 50 yd, magnified target.

Targets printed, headed to the indoor range in about an hour with my Anschutz target rifle and the old Marlin 81DL I just got a couple weeks ago.

One target class and one sporter class both with iron sights for this trip.

I'll put the scope back on the Anschutz next time and shoot it again at 50 yards in the Unlimited just for giggles.

Thanks for setting up these matches Mav., makes for more fun than just punching holes in targets. Fortunately we have an indoor rifle range (100 yard) that allows anything from .17HMR up through .375 H & H as long as the bullets don't stick to a magnet. They have banned AK47's and SKS's because 99 percent of the available ammo is steel core and the guys shooting 7.62X39 wouldn't respect the range rules for no steel core stuff.

They'll still let me shoot my Mosin 91/30 and my 98k Mauser as long as I'm shooting my handloads as I shoot mostly cast lead anyway.

KSCCHTrainer, it sounds like you found a pretty decent range; 100yd indoors is pretty well unheard of around here.

As far as I know, it's the only indoor range in the state that has both a 10 lane, 25 yard, pistol range and a 5 lane, 100 yard rifle range in the same building. The rifle lanes have electric target carriers with selectable stops at 25, 50, 75 and 100 yards. There are spotting TV cameras at 50 and 100 yards on each lane with monitors next to the shooting positions so you don't have to bring a spotting scope. It only costs 20 bucks a year to belong and 10 bucks an hour to use the rifle range if you're a member. They don't usually charge more than a 1 hour fee unless they are really busy.

Here are my two targets for the June match - one shot with my Anschutz 1451ST (elbow rested) at 25 yards Iron sights (Avanti peep rear, Daisy globe style front). Total score 75. The other one shot with a pre WW2 Marlin model 81DL that I bought last month for 100 bucks. 25 yards, standing, unrested.

I was thinking about putting a scope back on the Anschutz and entering it in unlimited as well, but I think not. I have that Avanti peep rear sight adjusted perfectly now, and I'd hate to have to do that over again each time I switch between it and the scope.

Outstanding first target, KSCCHTrainer! Not much room for improvement there.

Sounds like an excuse for a new rifle to me. :D

BTW: I am jealous of your indoor rifle range.

Wow, this is great! June 2nd and we already have some entries! And some great ones at that. Excellent work, KSC! ;)

Hey all,

This looks like a fun one this month. Count me in. I will be going to the range over this weekend, so I should be able to get into some of the action too.

Great shooting, KSCCHTrainer! Way to set the bar high! ;)

By the way, I put the top coat on my 243 stock project. If you want to check it out, here is the link to the thread: My 243 Stock Project

See you guys soon, hopefully with some decent targets.

Mikey!

Welcome back Mikey, glad to have you on board. From the look of things so far this one promises to be a good match.

Just realized that I forgot to score the last one. :banghead: Should have that stuff up ASAP. Sorry guys. :'(

Indeed, especially if you use the same rifle. Welcome to the match, scottishclaymore.

:)

I will give it a try with my Sig 522 with a Walther red dot at 25 yards.
I'll print the targets tomorrow.

I have my targets printed up and hopefully the rain will stop soon, so I can get out and do some shooting. Here it is almost the middle of June, and I am sitting here at my desk, looking out the window, and the rain is coming down like heck. The wind is blowing and it is just darn-right nasty! Wow, weird weather.

I wanna Shoot!

Mikey!

No kidding, it has rained just about every day here. This weekend promises (unless the weatherman lies again) to be a bit better, so I hope to get in a little range time myself.
