Great showing, shootr, looks like you threaded all of em' to capture top spot in the optics division as well.

:)

Trying but I'm sure some of the shooters here will tie things up and certainly do better from positions.

I'll say the friendly competition has given me cause to get off the bench and work at positions - and that's what I need to improve, so this is very good for me.

Great, it is always good to work at position shooting...where it really counts in the field.

:)

Here's a target I'm scoring as a 52 for the unlimited/optics/50yd class. I don't know if I'll get to the range again in June. Hopefully I can, and close the gap a little on Shootr!

Thanks, Shootr. And there's always room for improvement. P51D

I am not sure I quite understand how the scoring works, so I am just going to ask that Maverick score my targets. I hope you don't mind Mav!

I am also not sure which category to post these for, so I figured I would let you guys decide that too! I don't think it matters though, I think Shootr has this thing about sewn up anyway don't he?

I shot these using my Marlin 60 with Crosman 3-9X40 scope at 50Yds. I shot these with the fore-end of the rifle stock rested, while I controlled the rifle with my hands/shoulder from a sitting position at a table. I was seated at a cut off picnic table bench about 2 feet long and about 4 inches too low for the table, but that is what I had to work with at the time. :what:

Don't mind at all...the first one looks to be a 32, the second a 28 the way I see it. Both would qualify as Unlimited Class in the Magnified Optics Division.

:)

No problem, Mikey. Month has been busy but all is well. I haven't had an opportunity to shoot rimfire much yet, but hope to in the next couple of days prior to the close of this month's match. Hope everything is well in your camp.

:)

Yeah, just working and livin'.

I did work up a new load for my 300 Win Mag, using RL-22. I got my muzzle velocity up to 3233fps with a Hornady Interlock 165Gr SPBT in a load my rifle seems to like. It shoots right at 1" at 100 yds. The H4350 load still shoots tighter groups, but I can't get it above about 3000 fps with the same bullets.

What do you think of the 257 Wby cartridge?

Mikey!

Do you really want to know?...it is a bbl burner. I am not too fond of having to replace barrels, so I prefer a milder cartridges; additionally I am not too fond of .25cal. projectiles because of the poor choices with favorable BCs. I greatly prefer metric calibers such as 6mm, 6.5mm, and 7mm...and .30cal. isn't too shabby either.

I may have to try RL-22 in my .300WM. Alliant powders have often worked well for me in other rifles/cartridges. I am currently working up loads with H4831SC, after IMR4831 produced less than stunning performance in my LR rig. I use 190gr., 208gr., and 240gr. bullets in my rifle so I doubt that I will be seeing much over 3k ft/s, but that's okay, I like the high BCs that these afford.

:)

I know that if I load it up with heavy or wildcat loads it would really be a barrel burner, but with some of the milder loads, I think it would be quite a deer rifle. I definitely think it would be better than my 243, don't you?

As for the RL-22. I have not gotten the groups less than 1" yet, but then again, that may be my shooting too! OTOH... I got the H4350 to shoot better than the RL-22, with me behind the wheel.

Those are some pretty heavy projectiles you are throwing. Is that for better resistance to wind drift at longer ranges? IE Greater than 500 yds?

Mikey!

Back of the pack

Well, here's my target for the sporter, magnified, 50 yards. Not so good, but proudly rounding out the back of the pack! :D

Just realized this was the last day to get in on this.
Only had time to shoot in the sporter class and this is the best I could do
Mossberg 44 , peep sights, prone with sling 25 yds, Aquila standard velocity.
I'll let someone score this for me please
So how do I post "thumbnails" on here so I dont have to post such a large pic?
Thanks Maverick for putting this on.
I do have asuggestion for next month
How about stretching our legs alittle, either 50 or 100 yds.

Looks like a 42 to me, Orlando. Thumbnails can be added by using the attachment feature. They must be fairly small to upload, so I rarely use it myself. Besides, everyone likes to see the photos full size...makes the thread interesting and give you something to shoot for. ;)

I am up for trying 50yds for both optics and irons or even 50yds irons & 100yds optics if that is fairly agreeable. Let me know what you guys think.

Unfortunately, this month isn't looking so great for me, too many things going on, particularly at the close of the month. Next month looks a bit more promising.

:)

Its really no harder shooting at 50 or 100 than it is at 25.
We will just use a bigger target at those distances. Just something different to do

In some respects I find it easier, but wind can wreak havoc on those little .22lr pills at 100yds, IMO 50yds is near ideal for small rimfire. I am still up for the challenge, if everyone else is on board.

is there going to be a July match as well? I'd like to get in on this.
Heck yeah, it should be stickied by tomorrow, and I will have a link added to the bottom of this thread. Welcome to the match!

:)
