I just got back from a local shop where I ordered a Glock 17. It will be bone stock, without the compensated barrel or the night sights. I was going to get the Glock Factory night sights, but decided against them. This gun is going to be a range dog and never carried, and I wasn't overly impressed by the night sights I've used so far. If I change my mind, I can always add them later on.

Since I'm a corrections officer, I got the LEO price. I'm going to pick it up the first weekend in October for a total cost of $425 after tax. Woohoo!

Thanks! I'm really looking forward to it. I'm one of those guys who actually likes the slightly raked back Glock grip angle, and the full-size 17 fits my hand better than the smaller 19.

Next mission: Kel-Tech SUB-2000 that takes Glock 17 magazines.

You made an excellent choice. The G17 is one of the best handguns ever made, and what a great price!

You and me both! For about $300 those are sweet carbines. I've got to get one, and a couple Glock 18 33 round magazines!

congrats. you made a good choice. and the leo pricing is a great deal. let us know how she shoots, and what you think after you get it, but i can pretty much tell you that ot will shoot good and you will like it.

kci Glock spec mags, I bought some and two functioned great, the third trimmed a little on the lips and put some graphite on the spring and it hums along

$19.95 each or $15.60 each if bought in a 10 pack

compare to Glock Factory at $43+ for theirs, btw I have two Glock factory mags and they do function flawlessly, and are my first go to mags. I mark the kci mags with a ring of green electrical tape to keep them separate.

Sweet, thanks for the advice. I bought it at a shop in Minneapolis, and since Minneapolis has outlawed handgun transfers within the city (I'm not joking, sadly), I have to go to a gun show in Saint Paul to pick it up. It will be mine the first week of October. Huzzah!

Who knows? Maybe I'll turn into one of those Glock guys that owns a every size of Glock in every caliber, and in every generation. :D

They did what?!! That doesn't sound constitutional.

That's a good deal. From one LEO to another LEO. I've been in LE for 15 years. The only time I've seen a Glock manfunction is where someone started changing parts. Leave it stock as possible. Changing the sight is fine, but nothing else.

The Glock 17 is a fine gun. Get a good holster and 6 to 10 magazines and enjoy it.

Dang, I didn't think they'd give us CO's the LE price. Might have to check into that, 400 bucks is a dang good price for a new Glock.

Yeah, getting the LE price was nice, especially since the local Gander Mountain stores want $599 for a new G17.

I took it to the range for the first time today, and really enjoyed it. The only problem I experienced was the slide not coming forward all the way when I hit the slide release. It looked all the way forward, but wouldn't fire unless I pushed it a little bit (a couple of millimeters at most). I would usually go this way because I'd have the slide locked open according to range rules, then insert a loaded magazine and hit the release. This only happened twice, then after warm up it didn't happen after that. Could be a break-in factor.

It's pretty darn accurate, with very very little recoil. It also doesn't spit brass out too far, although it does fling it in different directions all the time. I was shooting with a coworker who had a new Smith & Wesson M&P series. It was a nice and accurate gun, but would jam and double feed. My Glock seemed to be happy with just about any ammo.

In an unrelated story, I still love the single action trigger on my Colt Lawman Mark III in .357mag!

Glock 17 is what i qualified with in the academey. Any glock that u buy is a good gun. If you plan on becoming a patrolman or a deputy I wouldnt carry it on duty. I would go with the glock 22 or the glock 31.

I've had a G17 for awhile now and it's great. Totally reliable. I have the Advantage Arms 22lr conversion kit for it and that works great too. Can shoot a long time for a few $.
