Carter- I got sucker punched in 1980 by a guy half my size, and it sounds like you have almost the identical injury I had. Was there any lip paralysis? I can't feel any pain whatsoever on the right side of my face under the nose, including the upper lip. I can feel heat, pressure, hot and cold, but I have cut it badly when shaving, and the only way I know it is from all the blood. The paralysis lasted about 2 weeks, and then it went away, but the lack of pain response has lasted until this day. About 2 years after I was hit, I went to the dentist, and he found that two of my teeth had roots that were dissolving, caused by the punch, no doubt. So, I had to have two root canals. Fun. On one of the dentist's X-rays, the healed crack in my skull was visible, so I went to my family doctor and he took a full face X-ray and my cheek had been fractured with the crack running down from under my eye socket to the top of my mouth. I had no idea I had been hit that hard. I avoided going to the doctor when it happened, as I didn't want to have my nose packed, after hearing horror stories from friends who had gone through it, and it didn't sound like fun. I just grabbed my nose and pulled it straight every morning, until it finally stayed straight. It didn't hurt that bad! The X-rays showed something else, I had 2 other healed fractures, both eyebrows had been cracked slightly. One of them I remember doing, I fell off my bike when I was 15, and hit my head on the steps of my friend's house and got a couple stitches, the other one, I don't know anything about, but both looked about the same age, according to the doc.
My nose has probably been broken at least 25 times, probably about 7 times from fights when I was a kid, or when I was a bouncer, and the rest were accidental from doggy head butts. My last dog, a Pit Bull mix, seemed to have homing radar built into his head, with the target being my nose. Most of the time he did it in the car, he would lunge at dogs or police horses, and I would get whacked. I just pulled my nose straight after all those times too. My nose looks pretty good, just a little bulbing on the end of it, and some little veins, but nothing like a friend who boxed for a very short while, his nose is really messed up!
