I just picked up an all metal K40 Covert from a friend of mine. He bought it new in the box, fired several hundred rounds thru it and put it in the safe. He finally decided to sell it to me after a couple of years of pestering him. I love this little pistol. I have owned both K40 and MK40 pistols in the past and this combo of both of them is perfect for a hot weather CCW.
First range day I noticed that the gun was destroying each and every ejected shell. The mouth of each case looks like a D with a dent extending halfway down the shell. Also the side only locks back after the last round about 40% of the time. All other functions are perfect. It runs with 165 grain Gold Dot 100% and is as accurate as I am at all reasonable ranges.
I have plans to call Kahr Service tomorrow and inquire about a fix to my minor problems. Based on other pistols I have fixed it seams reasonable to try and replace the mag follower, mag spring and slide stop lever. As I write this I am thinking a recoil spring might also help with the case denting issue. We shall see.
