To begin with, I own 3 Glocks and 2 Kahrs, this is not intended to "flame" anyone, this is simply a personal observation.
Does anyone other from me find the all stainless steel Kahr K40 to be superior to the Glock G27 and G23?
The Kahr trigger action is much better, the grip is at a more comfortable angle, the grip itself is much more comfortable (rubber wrap-around). The entire piece seems to be of superior quality. It feels more like what a strong pistol should feel like, IMHO. Although it is slightly heavier, the Kahr conceals much better than the Glocks. The extra weight brings the sites to bear much more quickly during "two tap" rapid firing, the standard Kahr sight pattern is superior to the Glock's. I find Glock's two piece "safe action" trigger to be annoying during long range sessions it actually makes my fingertip sore. At the end of a long range session, ie more than 150 rounds, my wrists and arms are much less sore when shooting the Kahr as compared to shooting the G27 or G23. Also the Kahr is more accurate, for me. You may have different results.
If you have the hardware available, as I did, take a Kahr K40 and a Glock 23 to the range and shoot 50 rounds through each. Shoot the entire 50 through one and then move on to the other. I found the Kahr to be vastly superior to the Glock.
If there is a disadvantage to the Kahr, it would it's weight, the fact that it carries three less rounds and it is slightly more expensive. But it sure shoots better, in my opinion.
Love my Glocks but I have to admit the Kahr is better all around.

Interesting that you ask this question. I currently have the G27, have spotted a P40 with stainless finish slide and was wondering what the collective opinion was of this piece. I am quite tempted at this point... as it can be had for about $400.00, also a K9 is available for the same $$$. Just cannot decide which I would carry more often. I use the G27 IWB, but find it to be a bit bulky and was on the hunt for something with a slimmer profile- that is why the P40 and the K9 caught my attention. I have considered a Browning BDM as it is the slimmest 9 I have seen- but mags are hard to come by and quite pricey.

I'm not sure the comparison with the MK40 and the G27 is a fair assessment of "shooting feel" because of the additional weight of the Karh... however, the trigger analysis is right on the mark in my opinion. I figure that if I cannot hit what I want in 6 rounds that I either should not be shooting (running instead), so not sure I'm terribly bothered by the mag capacity.

Dont get me wrong... I like my G27 to shoot- guess I'm just on a quest for the ultimate carry piece.. one that fits me a little better..

cheers.

I have a K40 and a G27, and I completely agree....

The K40 goes IWB much more compactly, the grip is better (Hogue), and I can shoot 3" groups at 10 yards all day. Very nice for quick fire.

The G27 is equally accurate, but thicker and much less desireable for IWB.

I also have a Wilderness Safepacker that I use when backpacking, and the K40 is usually in there instead of the G27.

Just as well.... my wife prefers the G27!

BSAM, I would recommend the the K9 over the P40 because it is all stainless. I have read that some of the early Kahr "plastic" models, ie the P40 have had lot's of problems, more recent ones seem to have the bugs worked out so beware. Every all stainless model Kahr's that I have owned, borrowed, rented or whatever have performed flawlessly. Granted it's a little heavier but the shoot ability and comfort level is way up there, also the 9mm is much cheaper to practice with. That K9 will tuck in IWB and ride well, believe me I carry my K40 all summer in shorts and a "T" shirt, the weight doesn't bother me at all.
My dear old Dad was a Fla Sheriff back in the 40's and 50's chasin' moonshiners and all kinds of bad guys armed with only a Colt .38spl Police Positive with 12 spare rounds on his belt and an eight round 12 gauge. His theory about the Colt six-shooter was a simple one, if he couldn't get 'em with six rounds, he had no business in the fight.
Seriously go for all stainless over semi-plastic, been there, done that and I wouldn't steer you wrong.-----John

i've owned and carried dozen's of guns over the past 25 years. and i've finaly settled on a kahr p40 for carry. no probs. with mine at all & it was manufactured in 2002. saddlebum

Ive shot, owned, carry'd, borrowed, stolen etc...............ALOT of guns.
The Kahr K40 is on my Favorite top 5 guns of all time list......its on the top 5 for a CCW list also.....................there are no Glocks on the list...but they are nice guns too.
Shoot well..............................

I can only compare the PM9 vs a G27 or 33. The only advantage that I can see the Glock has is capacity. I wanted a "hideout" type gun to be a backup to my CDP when I couldn't carry it. As far as concealability plus reliability I don't know it anything in a major caliber can compete with the PM9 or PM40.
