I was surfing the web one day and found a folding knife maker that was putting tritium inserts on the top edge of the knife as it would be seen clipped in your pocket. Anyone know who this was or have the URL, I have not been able to find them since. Thanks

Microtech has used trit inserts in the buttons of their knives, but I'm unaware of anyone putting the vials on/in the blades.

What's the reasoning behind this?

You shouldn't get into knife fights to begin with. If you need a visible reference to index your knife -see above.

Chris is correct. They're just a little different. When Spyderco considered doing it they were thinking about putting it near the pivot on the spine so that you could find the knife if was dropped. Considering the regulatory hassles involved it was considered too difficult to go to the trouble.

TAD also offered limitd edition Strider AR and GB with tritium thumbstuds.

I have a Spyderco Military that has a Tritium insert in the spacer of the G-10 handle. It was custom done for me by a member of Bladeforums.com. When the knife is in your pocket it can't be seen but if you set it down or drop it you can find it in the dark, when in use your hand covers it. I don't know why other than for show why someone would want tritium on the blade. Try doing a search on bladeforums.com since this subject has been discussed there before.

Tritium inserts on the blade would give it the "Jedi" look.

Like those light swords they were using. Move the blade around in the dark and watch the light show.:(

If dropped in the dark I should be able to bend down and pick it up unless it has been thrown outside my immediate AO.

Can't imagine how I have gone so long without having to need this option on my folders.
