I read guys have great results with the 800X, it burns clean, is bulky, but a pain to meter. I shouldn't have a metering issue since I do the (waste a ton of time) electronic dispenser one by one. It's ok though, I'm confident my loads are safe this way.

Since Bluedot is a flake powder and HS-6 is a ball powder, the Bluedot fills more case grain for grain. Don't get me wrong, I like and use HS-6, but I think Bluedot is more flexible. I've used Bluedot in everything from 9mm to 45/70.

At 12.5, only 0.5 grains over starting I was a long ways away from max which is 15.1

I use 11.5 gr HS-6 with a 240gr lead SWC.

That gets me 1125 fps from a 7.5" Ruger SBH Hunter, and 1.5" 12 shot groups at 25yds. I have not yet shot it at 50yds.

At least for me, 1100 - 1200 fps pretty much defines a mid-range 44 Mag load. I also believe it's suitable for hunting anything I'm liable to see.

I ran some HS-6 and Unique over the chrono today.

The HS-6 had a lighter thump to it. The Unique had a noticeable small flame out of the barrel that I did not notice with the HS-6. Believe it or not the Unique looked like it burned cleaner.

I'm looking to get my hands on the 800-X now.

Notice the SD of the hs-6 halved with another .5gr of powder? That is a really good sign. Powder likes what you're doing. Keep going up and it will probably all come together.

What was the accuracy like with these 3 different loads?

I will have to report back on accuracy didn't spend time on that. Would like to get my hands on the 800-X and load a bunch of batches of rounds with all 3 powders and spend a few hours testing.

Oh. I do load developement differently. Accuracy is priority number one. Chronograph gets used after I have accurate load just to confirm consistency.

I've been working my loads up on the chrono to the fps realm I want to be in. I want to make sure I'm not running to wimpy and work my way up to where I wanna be.

Have you noticed autoloading pistols to have much wider std deviation???

I am pleased that the recoil of the 240gr@1200 out of the 10 1/2" SBH is quite manageable. This has given me a new liking to the 44 mag. It's a much easier gun to shoot than a +P 45 auto compact.

I'd suggest putting the chronograph away for now and put some groups on paper.

You may have great, managable recoil, with lousy accuracy.

I'd make 3 each from the start load to the max load in .5gr increments. If you find a load that shoots well, load up 5 more of that charge weight. If those shoot well, load up 10 more. If a you get a great 10 shot group you're done.

I got some RMR plated 240 RNFP on the way. Look like a real nice target bullet by an awesome American Company. I guess they could work on a Whitetail too. I'm not sure how soft they are.
