just came across great deal on deagle .44 mag :D so now i am gearing up to reload for it. I've read that you should'nt shoot lead and that loads need to be inthe upper end to cycle properly Anyone load for deagle ,would be nice to hear from your experiences would like to shorten learning curve some. just ordered dies and cal. conversion from dillon ready to shoot my loads in t his gun , sure can't afford factory loads.

I wouldn't shoot cast lead bullets in one.

Go for heavier bullets (like 240 grains) and don't go for low volume powders like Titegroup. Also load toward the upper end of accepted loads.

The Desert Eagle is also very susceptible to "limp wristing" so hold it firmly or it won't cycle properly.

The weight of the Desert Eagle makes recoil VERY soft compared to other 44 Mags. In fact, I loaded up some 180 grain bullets with a load that didn't cycle the action at all and those loads felt more like shooting maybe a 38 Special or 22 LR.

To reload for the Desert Eagle, one must load to the upper spectrum of power range and
not use bullets lighter than 240grs. H-110 worked best for me, as you want the cleanest
burning powder possible so no unburned powder is left to gum up the chamber. The Eagle
has a tight chamber for the gas system to work properly.

As a last note: NEVER shoot lead through a Desert Eagle, unless you want an expensive
de-leading process on the Gas System to be done.

Happy Shooting!

Cleanliness is next to godliness. Clogged gas ports will surely ruin your day...and as said before they like thier loads hot.

I have had best results with the 240 gr jacketed bullet and book max Accurate #9. Firm crimp.
