It seems like everyone here is an ace shot. 1" groups from a 357 snubby at 100 yards, etc. Sort of like fishtales, the "one that got away".

So be truthful, for my scientific research poll ;):

How many of you EXAGGERATE your groups???

(I promise not to tell.....)

I don't think it's lying as much as boasting about nothing. People post about groups that were shot while sitting and using a sand rest with no wind.
Basically if you can squeeze your finger on the right gun, you can get these "fishtale" groups. All that does is give you an idea of what the gun is capable of and not the shooter.
Now try standing with no rest and those 1" groups are nonexistent. Now maybe I am just going on the wrong days to see all the crackshots but what I see at the range is a bunch
of paper that looks like Swiss cheese. Only on the internet does the 1" group exist.

I never lie about them.
Now I may post the one good one I shot that day, and leave out the 20 that sucked. ;)
But lie? No. If I post a group, I shot it. I will say that 1moa groups aren't the norm for me. When I get one, I'm proud of it. I can generally keep it within 2" though, which is plenty good for deer hunting. And the ol' saying, "The rifle is moa, if you do your part" is actually very true in most cases. It's just that I don't always do my part.

I don't lie about my groups because I don't talk about them, and the reason why I don't talk about them is 'cause I suck. :D

I neither lie or brag about my grouping. If I hit the can, it's a good shot. If I miss the can, crappy shot. Good days and not so good. Either way I still enjoy expending some rounds.

1 inch groups, all the time. 1/2 inch groups very common. 3/8 inch groups sure. I don't lie but I'm only showing my best groups, somehow the bad ones get thrown away and I erase them from my mind.

Thanx, Russ

P.S. These are not ten shot groups either.

Really? No one can shoot a 1" group?

I never said that. Why, here's one below that I shot with a small 9mm at 100 yards blindfolded.
It looks like 3 hits but it was 10 into three holes. This was standing with no rest of course. ;)

Heck, I'm happy if I can get it on the paper, I'm certainly not going to brag and fib about how small my group is. But I will when I get 30 rounds on a man size target at 200 yards with iron sights. :D

most guys that know how to shoot will stand and shoot 3 to 4 inches at 25 yards with a decent handgun. Open sight rifle at 100 yard about the same. A good scoped rifle 1 inch is the standard for most of the good shooters I know. 1 old guy I am friends with has a big scope on a nice remington 22 rifle an shoots chalk at 100 yards and has a high percentage of hits. I know , I know, everybody else can shoot open sight handguns into 1 inch at 25 yds.(lol)

I don't think many people lie, but most of us certainly draw more attention to GOOD results than POOR results. I've posted threads about surprisingly good groups with particular rifles, as have many others. But conversely, few ever post a thread about horrible results unless they're looking for some input on training. There are no "Check out my 25 Yard Pie Plate" threads, or very few.

I also think most of us are showing the results of benched, supported firearms rather than our own results kneeling or standing.
