Was looking for a 9mm. i have a m&p 45, love it, i have shot 2000 rds no problems at all. i saw a s&w 9mm sigma for 350. the m&p 9mm about 500. is the sigma a good gun? why the price difference.
the Sigma is a good gun for the money, the M&P is a Great gun for the money. I have both and IMO the difference in price is justified. Usually there are sales on the Sigma for 299 with a $50 rebate or 2 free mags... its a very very common sale around me anyways. You could always pick up a used sigma in the 200-250 range fairly often in local circles.
BTW- don't listen to all the Sigma haters. Its a good gun and yes, it has a heavy trigger.... but most here make it out to be like your pulling back a catapult or something... most having never owned one or shot them and just passing the word around playing internet hero. There is a "Free" mod to reduce the trigger pull and often S&W will do a trigger job for free on it and send it back to ya.
If you want a "Target" gun... id probably say to save your money for another M&P or maybe look into another brand. The Sigma is most useful (in my opinion) as a house gun, Truck gun, bug out bag gun.
Roomie has a Sigma, I really like it, especially given the price. It shoots pretty well and is probably one of the best glovebox guns I've ever come across.
I owned a Sigma (Sold to my loving bro). Great gun for the money. First, it's reliable. Second, it's shootable to combat distances to 15 yards.
I've shot the M&P, and it's easier to get good groups at the range (slow firing), but I don't know if it's better in a combat situation because I never rapid fired it.
I did rapid fire my SW9VE at 15Y, and got rather (by me) good shot's 2 of 3 CM, others mostly on silhouette.
But I vote M&P between the two, unless it's going to be a truck gun.
