Making a Barrel vise - Action wrench for the field

The goal is to barrel switch Savage 110's, Mausers, and Rem 700s in field.

My barrel vise at home is mounted to a 350 pound bench.

So I am working on a handle and making some new vises and wrenchs.
The wood I am using is Iron Wood, that is incredible stuff, it bridges the gap between wood and AlluminThe goal is to barrel switch Savage 110's, Mausers, and Rem 700s in field.

I had to make a relief cut for the recoil lug.
The Savage notch does the allignment.

barrel vise

What about using a 2" plumbers vise not a bench vise buta true plumbers vise?
