I think I started out my BP short career with Goex. Ran out and got this triple 7 from the only local guy. Not many bp folks out here, I am sort of alone. I guess I need a trip to the big city.
If anything that's gun related is open on Sunday in Palm Springs, I'll check when I take my wife down to Home Depot there.

Dialed right in

These are Good Bullets.

Used my 61, first time out.
20 grains 777
85 grain RingLok (couldn't resist)
Wonder Wad

25 yards
Single handed.

Had an old guy come up and start buggin on me. Nice old fella.

I started shooting at six on the bull.
Once I discovered that it was POA/POI I was tickled.
I stumbled onto a combination that that worked from the start.

The first cylinder is low under the bull. Wobble area good.
Once I saw holes in the black, I got excited like a knucklehead and popped a couple high. And there ar a couple of low stringers. As you can see I'm out of practice. Yes, one handed.

Nice clean holes! The holes these bullets are quite different from the round balls that make holes and stars on them. And...nice shooting!:)

Thanks.

Yep these bullets are just fine.

In 80/81 I was an NCIOC at a range in 29 Palms. I taught rifle and pistol marksmanship or was simply present when the main instructors were. I was also on the team.

I used to have guys roll up and bring stuff out to the pistol range next to the range house and want to shoot for beers and sodas. The looks on people's faces when you outshoot them with their own guns is priceless. I never collected from anyone.

The problem for me all these years later is that once I recently took up shooting again, in my mind I was still a good shot. NOT...

My wife bought some BP stuff from a neighbor and gave it to me for my 50th bday. Got me started again.

Anyway, to be short about it... I know all the techniques and what I should do. Just putting them in practice again and getting them down is the problem for me. I jerked, I think, three low and two high, off the 25yd face. But the preponderance is there. (He sure wouldn't have walked away)
I was looking at the target face too much, and not concentrating on the front sight blade. Wobble area decreases with practice.

I always shoot one handed for practice unless I get frustrated. The reason is that all the problems come into play one handed. Once you add the other hand the groups get smaller and tighter. With these BP's your hold changes because you have to cock the weapon.

What amazes me is the idea that many people in the past with these 51/61/60's considered them point and shoot weapons. There are lots of tales of proficiency. That's definitely something to develop, but at this point, looks like magic to me.. hehehe But it would be nice to pop walnuts off a fence post from the hip.
