Anybody know anything about a Marlin 883 chambered in 22 magnum. Real nice rifle, I paid $64.63 for it. Got it at the gun show, was looking around in the used guns. thank you very muck

Shot an 882 a while back. Tack driver. Cheaper than most anyone else's, but just as accurate.

I have the 882, very accurate with Winchester .22mag ammo. I've taken several fall turkeys with it.

the 883 is a wonderful 22mag, especially if it is wood stock, however if it is a synth stock, you should get a roll of aluminum tape, and shim up the sides and bottom of the action a bit, to keep it stable, while you are pulling the trigger rearward. As for the price, you positively stole if it is even in just working condition; a fair condition 22 mag would normally go for 150 bucks all day, a nice shape one should bring 200. A 783 marlin is one of 2 marlins more valuable, the most valuable ones are the ones that look like garands or 30 carbines.
It should also be an outstanding shooter; so make sure you try a variety of 22 mag rounds, to find out which it likes best.

882 is a very nice gun and that's a good price. My 882 is most accurate with Rem. premier 33 gr. V-Max

MARLIN 883 cleand up great
This little 883 has been cleaned up and it looks great. The barrel looks as if it has been chromed inside. No bad nicks on any of the wood, blueing is 95% plus. 
Trigger feels 'OK', no more, no less.
I have mounted a cheap BSA 4 x 32 scope on it, looks good. I am sure it will get some range time in tomorrow. 
This little 883 has been cleaned up and it looks great.

I've got an 883 (I think). Laminated stock, bolt action, blued, detachable mag. .22 mags have considerably more power than a .22LR. My Marlin is quite accurate. They've fallen out of favor with the introduction of the .17 HMR, but in the real world they're pretty close.

I just bought an 883 stainless steel with a laminated stock for $140.00 OTD from a pawn shop. The gun is in like new condition. I shot it a couple of days ago and it shoots fine.
I have an old 783 22 mag i bought 25 years ago and it is one of my favorites. This gun with winchester or armscor ammo will stay within an inch or so at a hundred yards. The winchester sometimes splits or needs a second strike. The armscor has been a super find for the price.
If the new gun shoots as well as the old one i will be a happy camper. For what you paid you got one heck of a deal.
The only problem i have had with the 22 mag is that at least until the barrel has been shot a bit you may need to remove copper fouling. My first gun would start to open up 100 yard groups between 25 and 50 rounds. Once cleaned it went back to shooting groups. Now after being shot over a 1000 times its pretty smooth.

12 +1 is the load. Armscor ammo is the same made in the Philipines, but dont let that throw you, Armscor has been making fine gun stuff for a while. Sometimes Pmc may make some ammo for Armscor, but that is just fine as well.

THANKS everyone - here is the 'range report'
I had to rotate the little 4 x 32 BSA scope, 90 degrees. Being mounted with the elevation adjustment on top, and windage on the bolt/ejector side, thus a jam right from the start. Rotated the little scope 90 degrees, no more malfunctions. I shot 99 more rounds w/out a single misfire, jam, or malfunctions of any kind.
Although solving one issue, it obviously has a downside. Now insted of L meaning left, it now means lower, and right = tight & left = loose, now it's to the right will move right, and turn left, moves left. Not complicated at all.
I was able in just 100 rounds, to zero in a scope on this little gem. I can go through 12 rounds in less than 30 seconds and keep them all in the size of a tennis ball from about 12 meters/paces, out to about 75 meters/paces. This is being shot from a sitting position w/ the aid of a sand bag. I am able to keep 3 round groups within a dime at 50 meters. I think I have found a tack-driver. More than once was able to stack shots close to on top of each other. For less than $100 cash, I found a 'new but neglected' rifle that just needed a good home and a caring owner. I am real happy with this find, go find one and tell about yours.
