I can't think of any definition of the term assault rifle that fits the Marlin Papoose. Why?

Assault rifle?

At this time I would say not, but remember that the term can always be redefined.

Well, by kaliregyoufornia standards, yes, if it has the 15 round or larger mag, and soon to be in Florida, if you dudes don't wake up to the bill that is about to be passed, all semi auto's, including shotty's, and your beloved 10.22's , are about to take a bite out of a big S#%t sandwich.

:) I really don't think so.

I have an older one with black metal and wood. Fun little plinker at 40 yards or so.
I don't think a little .22 backpacking rifle is going to qualify as an assault rifle. I'm sure you can get a list and check it for where you live though.

It's so much not an assault rifle, that it was an enumerated non-AW model in the '94 ban (unless you somehow managed to come up with crap to give it features). It's a packable small game rifle, and a plinker, but an assault rifle by no reasonable (or most unreasonable) stretches of the immagination.

Ugliest darn gun in my safe

Bring it on a lot of camping and canoeing trips though.

Hi
If I may temporarily Hi-Jack your post. Rangerruck, what legislation in Florida are you referring to? I try to keep on top of firearms related stuff and have not heard of anything regarding limits to capacities or assault weapons references, etc. Our state pro gun lobby is quite active and vocal. Appreciate any info I may have missed down in swampland. In reference to the Papoose had a blued/wood stocked one for several years that thought it was an informal target rifle. It did have a free floating barrel;). Assualt rifle? :neener::D except to those who think any semiauto, clip fed, blackish, takedown GUN is. Then an AirSoft qualifies.
Have a safe holiday

In CA, magazine capacity has nothing to do with it being classified as an assault weapon.

BTW, the Marlin Model 70P is CA legal.
