Was at the fun shop and spotted one on the used rack. It was priced at $180, synthetic stock and blued. Action felt smooth...handled nice. I thought the safety was a bit wonky. How are these things? Can the rear iron sight be replaced...it was really uhhh :uhoh:. Easy to find mags and do scope/bipod mounts? Cant remember if it had sling mounts.

Is $180 too high for used on these? They wouldn't budge on price.

That seems high for a used one to me. You can get a new one for $200. But they're great rifles IMO. Mine is very smooth and plenty accurate. It's not as accurate as my Savage or my CZ but it's very well made and should be around long after I'm gone. I have zero regrets about buying it. I bought the tube mag model though. It will shoot shorts and longs as well as LR's. You can load 25 shorts in the tube. That's a lot of shooting. They do have sling mounts too.

I have the xt-22 ro

I love it. My favorite rimfire (even over the ruger 10/22).

Accuracy at 50 yards out to 75 yards is 1/2 inch. Action is smooth and trigger is very nice.

My only regret is that I only bought one.

Mine was priced at $200 brand new and got it on a trade in.

I have heard stories of the front site being canted. Mine isn't, but I'd check it along with everything else before you leave the store.

I did have to place a new sling stud on mine in order to mount a bipod. The factory one wasn't going to get the job done.

I bought the XT-17 a few months ago, without a doubt much better than my 10/22. After I sighted in the scope, about 3rds, I was able to shoot groups that my thumb nail would cover.
Really like the adjustable trigger pull and overall feel of rifle

For the record most of the reports of canted sights involve rifles made at other plants than the Kentucky plant where the XT's are made. But some people have complained about the XT's. It just hasn't been nearly as bad as other Marlins if you go by the reports on the net.

I ordered one of the tube mag XT-22s last year for 170 brand new. Really nice gun and I love that I can get 25 shorts in it.
Action is smooth, love the trigger on it. Shoots better than I do.

Easy to scope after I added some weaver #12 mounts to it. It has sling mounts molded into the stock. I remember reading about the plastic on the mounts cracking with bipods being installed so I haven't added that to mine, but that doesn't seem to be a common problem from what I can tell.

For 180 I would probably buy it

Ended up picking it up for $175. The stock still had the Marlin tag on it. After breakdown it doesn't look like any rounds where shot through it. Not scratches on the extractor or receiver ejection port and the bolt still had the white factory grease in it.

This one has the KY stamp on the barrel. Having fun with the trigger. I'll run it through it's paces before doing a scope...I'm horrible with leaf sights. Wish it had peeps.

I got an XT-22TR that had a canted front sight, but was planning on running a scope on it anyway. Been too cold to get it out to the range, so don't know how well it shoots yet.

Took it to the range on Saturday. Bulk ammo at 25 yards was about an inch. CCI minimags [didn't shoot too many of them] ended up being about 1/2" group. Was picking off a small rock at the 100 yard mark with most hits. For a cheap $200 rifle, it is good to go. Had no issues with function. At some point, I would like to try out Longs and Shorts.

Everything I have read about them is that they are accurate.
The two I have looked at both had the canted front sight.
At 60 years of age I need a scope but still...

With it, . . . it is a fine rifle.

I didn't put a scope on mine because I figured it would be my shorts rifle and the scope would only work past the range of the ammo. But certainly if you intend to shoot LR in it then it is very easy to mount a scope on it. In fact it has both a dovetail mount and is drilled and tapped for a Weaver mount.

I got the Weaver bases. Also, my scope is Mildot, so even if I DID use shorts or longs, I will just see where they are hitting and use the corresponding dot. Most likely, I'll only be using Long Rifle rounds.
