Shaughn,
Ok, let's look at this problem for a second. Honestly, would you or do you know know anyone who would run out to the pharmacy and buy a bottle of meth or a baggie of heroin tomorrow if it were made legal? Now, I'm not talking about coke or weed, just the harder drugs(even though I personally consider cocaine a hard drug).
I don't. I do know meth heads and heroin addicts, have em in my family. They have no problem getting their drugs. Other than having to go into the hood to get them. I don't know of one person that would say"Gee, I wish heroin was legal, I really would like to chase the dragon today, oh well". If they want to do heroin, they go and get heroin. Those that don't want to do it, WON'T.
The point I am trying to make is that there are types of people that cannot or will not deal with reality so they try and escape it any way they can. Some through drugs, some through sex some through suicide, doesn't matter. The fact that something is or is not legal doesn't stop them from the illegal activity. Making it illegal does however afford an opportunity for bootlegging and the black market. Take away the illegality of the item, be it guns, drugs, booze, anything, then you take away the black market.
Look at cigarettes, cheap in the south, highly taxed in the north. The gov wants you to stop smoking in the commie states so they try to make it cost prohibitive by taxing it highly. All that does is open up an avenue for illegal trafficking. Capitalism at it's finest, God bless America.
