Guys,
was wondering what guns you own that mean the most to you and why?

I would have to say that my most sentimental gun is a pump shotgun that my grandfather gave me when I was 12 yrs old- a Sears 200 12 ga pump. Granddad passed away in '86, and I think of all the good times with him and the great way he made me feel when we were together, hunting, fishing, cutting up a squirrel for stew ( yeah, I got redneck Southern blood in me)
Probably my second is my first Glock, a mod 19. Love that thing. Made all my other guns gather dust for a long time. I love my Kimbers, too, just coz they are art to me. Gotta few 870s that give me a woodie.

....have three that fall into that catagory...

....Grandad's model 12 Winchester
....Dad's A-5 Browning
....Custom 10/22 autographed and personal message from Charlton Heston.

My single barrel 410 that my dad gave me when I was 11. It was his grandfather's. I will never get rid of this gun. My other is a Taurus model 82 38 special that my Grandmother gave to me when I graduated high school. Although it wasn't legally mine until I turned 21.

For too many years those 2 guns were the only ones I owned. It wasn't too bad though, the 410 worked great for rabbit hunting and the 38 by my bed was very comforting when I slept at night. I have replaced the 38 with a 45 as my primary home defense gun but I loaned the 38 to my Dad so it is still doing its job as a protector of house and home.

The 410 is retired and spends the days displayed in my living room where I can look at it and remember the adventures we shared. Although if needed it could still be brought back into service.

Grandfather's Model 12,Model94. Dad's Model 70,Mom's S&W 38 snub. All of my family have passed on but the guns go on....my son gets them all when I go down that road.;)

Granddaddy's Winchester Mod 42 pump. He used to shoot trap behind the house with it. First shotgun I ever shot.

Pop's (Maternal Grandfather) Model 99 Savage in .300 Savage.

Dad's pre 64 Winchester .30-30

There are others. I have my Dad's old Savage pump .22, still shoots very well. I also have Granddaddy's Humpback. Pop's Remington 48 20ga. Dad's High standard .22 revolver.

Then there is every other gun I own, acquired, or bought. I'm just an old softy.

Single shot 410 that my grandfather gave me when I was about 12. It was his grandmothers! It's retired, worn pretty good, but I will own it untill either I die, or give it to one of my kids [that I dont have] someday.

I think it's funny how it dosn't have S\N's on it (that I can see or find).

My Vertec because it is the first gun I truly learned to shoot with and modify myself.

My SKS. Me and my dad redid the stock and the barrel together then I got stupid and traded it for a pistol. The guy at the gun shop liked the way it looked so much he took it home for himself. My fiance went to the shop one day to look around and while talking with the owner she found out he still had the one I used to own so she secretly got it back and surprised me with it for christmas!

My Marlin. Mommy bought it for me last birthday, was the first time she ever did anything but try to ignore the fact that guns existed. Now she wants her own!

Model 64 3" RB HB
Model 94 Winchester in 30-30
[Gifts]

Field Grade '74 model SX1
[ I bought this one for myself, too many memories, rds downrange]

I won't mention some , and some were lost in a theft, fire or flood.

I have my Great Grandpa's Marlin 1894 in 30-30. I also have my Grandpa's .38 that he carried in the cockpit while he bombed the Japaese Navy. I am very proud of both guns and would never sell them for any reason.

I guess I have 3...

My Savage 340 was the first gun I had to call my own. Refinished the entire thing and although not sleek and glamorous, it's one my best shooters and just a gun I'm very happy to have.
I first saw one over 10 years ago. Knew then and there I wanted one. It took me until last summer to finally have the $ to buy one without depleting needed funds. That HK P7M8 will be another I'll die owning.
The most persoanl firearm however is the only gun and only gift to ever actually bring tears to my eyes. I had spent Christmas morning with my then girlfriends family. later that evening, we returned to my house to open the gifts from my family. The last one I open was one from my grandmother. it was my late grandfather's Itica shotgun. My other two brothers had gotten one of his 3 guns and now I had the last one. I never got a chance to actually hunt with the man, but having that shotgun is the next best thing.

Clearly it is my first handgun. My Ruger SP101 3 inch barrel .38 SPL.

I bought it against my late wife's wishes, but I wanted to protect her on our Florida vacations, and so I named this neat little revolver after her: Cheri.

That is sentiment.

I have 3 that mean a lot to me. First is the Ruger RST-6 which was my first handgun, after falling in love with a RST-4, owned by my older brother-in-law and mentor. Second is the Stevens .22 bolt that was given me by my parents at the tender age of 12. It's still amazingly accurate and still a hell of a lot of fun to shoot.

But the Colt Pocket Auto .32 which belonged to my father will always be the most special to me. He died in 1987, and I still miss him a lot. He was the greatest dad in the world.

My Grandfather's S&W Model 12 Airweight and his USMC surplus 1911. The Airweight was his sidearm during his career as an FBI agent and firearms instructor, and has done occasional carry duty with me as well.

Two of 'em, both belonged to my Dad.
An Inland M1 Carbine he bought from the NRA in the early '60's for $25-$30.
A High Standard Double Nine revolver. First gun I ever shot, first gun my son shot. Hopefully someday it'll be the first one my grandkids shoot.

For me there are three
#1. A Savage .22/410. It came from my Dad. Accounted for more small game than my truck could haul...equal tonnage for tin cans, walnuts, and paper.
#2. A Remmington Mod 510, .22 bolt single shot. It was my Grandfather's. If you knew how many cousins I have...well its amazing I have it...and none of the rest know!
#3. A Winchester 94 Classic, 30-30. My Dad gave it to me for High School graduation.
I'll stretch this to #4. A S&W Tactical 4553. My Sons,Wife, and a few others gave it to me when I turned 50.
If these were the only guns I'd ever have it would be O.K. with me...maybe.
Mark.

I've got 2 that I'm really attached to...

#1: Winchester Model 94 (Pre-64) .30-30 that my grandmother gave me.

#2: My Dad's M1 Carbine that I will one day inherit. It was one of the guns I learned to shoot on, and I've got a lot of fond memorys of blasting away at pop cans with 30 round mags :D

I wouldn't sell either for a million dollars...

A couple...

A Marlin 39; bought in 1932 by my dad (who is still alive).

A Stevens .22 lr auto that belonged to my brother (who is not).

A Model 13 S&W revolver, round butted and 3.5" barrel. I bought it and carried it a long time on the Border Patrol. The frame is warped and it's retired now.

When I was 5, Dad and I were out at the rifle range and he was sighting in his hunting rifle. I was very interested and wanted to try it, so he let me! I still remember it well. That rifle is now in my safe, a sportorized Krag with a low power Weaver scope. It still has a full lenght barrel is still very, very accurate.
The second one is the rifle Dad used to teach me shooting and the one he and I used most often. It's a Remington model 24 takedown 22LR. It feel into disrepair for a while, but I had it fixed up and it shoots very well now.
Both these rifles carry more memories for me than I can relate. Needless to say, I will never sell or surrender either of them for any reason.
Bob

Guess I've got four of 'em.

An old Ted Williams/Sears .22 (everything) autoloader that I must have shot 1/2 a million rounds through in my hey-days - was my Dad's.

A .22-250 that Dad gave me a year or so before he died. He loved to shoot one-hole groups, but never quite did the bench rest stuff. The rifle still does the trick when I'm up to it.

A buttery-smooth S&W K15 that I shoot all the time. In fact a fellow-THRer or two shot it just last weekend. Likely well over 100,000 rounds through this thing & still very accurate & just now "breaking in." ;)

& Dad's 870 which he shot national armed services skeet with. Got his shooting vest too with numerous 250 & 500 straight skeets with. That one sits in the safe 'cause I'll just never be that good - ever.

Fact is, I've got a few more too.

Must be something like all the good women you've ever known (not to be sexist in the least, please), or fave cars, or .... some you just want to take out again to relive that "first special moment."

Thass all.

Not even close. My first gun, that I bought for $119 or so when I turned 18, many moons ago. My beloved Ruger Standard Model Mk 1, with the 6" tapered barrel. It still shoots more accurately than I can.
