Legacy Escort Aimguard 12ga. 7rds of birdshot* w/ 3 00buck and 2 slugs in buttcuff.

I have a handgun, but I dont keep loaded mags for it. 10mm defensive ammo is damned expensive anyway. If you wanted to consider the AK a backup, I keep loaded mags (alternating fmj and SP) for it in ammo cans. ;)

*Longest shot is 12yds, if I stood in the kitchen sink.

Para Ordnance P12 in 45 ACP for me.
SIG P226 9mm for the wife.

If the threat requires more than 22 combined rounds of 9mm and 45, I have bigger problems than having run out of ammo!

SKS followed by either a Mauser or a CETME. Not the greatest setup, I know but I haven't gotten around to getting a shotgun.(Can't have a pistol, OH NO, not old enough for one of them DANGEROUS things. Them three rifles hanging over my bed are just fine but I could KILL SOMEONE with a handgun. ) Neighbors are behind a wooded hill, at least, nothing to worry about there.

I voted for shotgun backed up by handgun, but its really the other way around. I always have the handgun on me or next to the bed, and the shotgun is in the closet. So for surprise stuff its use the handgun to fight to the shotgun. For investigating things, its a handgun in the waistband, and grab the cruiser ready 870 from the closet and check things out. the 870 has 5 8pellet 00 buckshot in the tube, with 6 more in the saddle, and 6 rr slugs on the stock. This is my grab and go gun for both hd and social situations in the neighborhood. I also keep my ar ready to go in the safe, with a vest loaded with mags hanging next to it.

Handgun backed up by rifle.

For "normal" self defense against run of the mill criminals, the handgun's plenty enough. For SHTF defense against zombies, riots, mass invasion, brown shirts, Al-Q, etc, the rifle(s) get shuffled into the deck.

Rottweiler backed by a shotgun.
The only loaded gun in my house is a shotgun (normally). If I can't solve the problem with that, more guns aren't going to help.
I do have loaded magazines lying around left over from shooting sessions and either carbines or handguns could be brought into play in short order, but this isn't something I specifically planned.

S&W 24-3 44spl loaded with 200gr gold dots.It could get retired in favor of my 625-6 45acp mountain gun, there's many more defensive loads to pick from in 45acp compared to 44spl.

Rottweiler backed by a shotgun.

444, I like how you think! :D Mine is a German Shepherd backed by a S&W686+ with seven rounds of .357 Hydra-shok and another speed loader on the nightstand!

If they were good enough for the Roman Leigions, they are good enough for me.

Glock 22, laser & Light & Mossburg 12

:scrutiny:
a Glock 22 with Black Talons, a laser and streamlight scorpion, backed by a Mossburg 500, 12 gage with scorpion light, double pistil grips and a 18.100 long bore barrel and just enough overtallength to mneet the 26" requirement. Loaded with 3 #1 Buck's & 3 slugs. If they get past all that, my better half's got a 38+p, 20 ga rem 100 and 2 attack cats that have untrimmed claws.:neener: :what:

SAR-1 backed up by a Glock 21, which in turn is also backed up with an 870 if the situation demands it.

There really should be a rifle, pistol, and shotgun option.:D

Nothing right now, seeing that my sheeple parents keep the guns locked up. Eventually, I hope to have a handgun (USP .40) backed by both shotgun (undecided, some pump or semi) and a rifle (Kel-tec SU16 if I stay in Kali, an AR if I move)

Mr. White stole my answer....blatant plagarism...except he was first

;)

I have a Glock 19 w/M3 light ....and a knife....

In my home in the dark....the knife might be my first choice

For those of you with shotguns.....your load probably doesn't matter

At most household ranges the wad will likely go right through the bad guy:D

You guys with rifles....I hope you aren't any of my neighbors...or I am gonna start sleeping in the basement!
