I can tell you for a fact that the UP headquarters prohibits you from carrying weapons inside their building. They have signs up on the entrances. Under Nebraska law, even with a concealed permit, it's illegal to carry anywhere that posts signs prohibiting it. And if you do so and are caught, it's grounds for them revoking your permit and never issuing you one again.
If you want to buy a handgun from a store in Omaha (whether or not you actually live in Omaha) the store makes you go fill out registration paperwork with the PD before they'll sell it to you. Not so with the stores in LaVista, etc.
Getting the state handgun purchase permit was a breeze (for me anyway.) I think it was a five minute turnaround.
