Ghost rings?

I once toyed with the idea of putting ghost rings on mine. But I had too much fun taking it out to the desert and busting clays with it. You can do this with a bead, but you can't really do it with ghost rings.

One of the toughest things about using a shotgun for defense is getting enough practice with it. I found casual trap shooting a great way to do that. I had to aim fast to get a hit, and if I missed I had to cycle the slide fast to get a second shot. An 870 HD can also be used at the skeet range--if it's got a bead and not ghost rings.

Keep the bead and buy a trap thrower.

gideon,

you mentioned that this shotgun is pretty much for the HD role and that is it.
with that purpose in mind, a sling is just something to get in the way, get tangled, and potentiall snagged especially if this shotgun is going to be for HD. also, ghost rings are not bad, (i am not trying to talk you into one way or another) but i don't think that they really help that much if you are defending inside your home. a bead sight is much quicker for closer ranges IMHO.

adding a good light is not a bad idea imho if you have insufficiant home lighting or your power has gone out. sure helps to see what your aiming at.
