okay all- i have a m59/66 sks yugo that i like to keep as a trunk rifle. i am having trouble keeping surface rust off, and battling it has been so uphill that i have actually had to just remove it from my trunk untill i figure out a better means of storage. are there any reasonably priced effective anti-rust cases or sleeves available commercially? i see those grey socks from time to time that slip over a rifle, do they help prevent rust? thanks in advance!

i know some people will say rust won't hurt the yugo, and i agree it won't; but i still want to keep the rifle as asthetically pleasing as possible as i got it in excellent condition and i do think it looks kinda snazzy :)

Have you tried R.I.G. rust inhibiting grease and storing the rifle in a breathable silicone impregnated gun sock?
The bore on a Yugo SKS is chrome lined, no worry there and the internals can be treated with a product such as M-Pro7 CLP.
This treatment works for my tractor rifle.

Stuff you might try is Eezox. It's a CLP that goes on wet, you leave just a thin coat and it dries. Very good protectant, and since it's dry when applied properly, it won't attract dust.
