ok, using H4895 and 168gr sierra matchkings, in rem 700 with 26in varmit barrel, trying to get 10 rd groups under 1 in at 100 yds. any one have a favorite load in grains of powder and oal using this combination?

My buddy said his favorite load is 42.5 (i think) of 4895 with that exact set up...

Its been a couple months since he was tellin me but i believe thats what he said

Your rifle may vary, but try 41.0 Varget. Not sure what my oal is, as I use a guage that bases off of the ogive and seat .030" off the lands. Never have put a caliper on it for a tip to base OAL.

I've had GREAT results with the Berger 168 gr. VLD, I use BL-C2, 43.5 Grains.
I've also run as hot as 44.5 Grains with great accuracy.
I've got a Krieger barrel with a 1:13 twist.

Play with your seating depth, sometimes a bullet likes to have a .015'' to .020 jump before it hits the lands of the barrel.
Very often, good accuracy comes when a bullet starts right up against the lands. BUT, this is not always true, sometimes backing them off the lands and letting them have some room to jump helps.
Good luck!!!!!!!!!!!
