have been spending some time working up loads for my rem 700 .308, using H4895 powder and matchking bullets. the results are wierd. both the 150gr and 168gr bullets like 43gr of powder. is this possible?

Depends on how you loaded the rounds. The amount of powder needed to create a load varies with the internal case capacity, amount of compression if any of the powder, what the internal space is after setting the bullet, amount of crimp if any, etc, etc..... Also includes with the concentricity of the bullets, ballistics of the individual bullet. So many variables it is hard to control them all.

In your case, sounds like you only have to choose which one has the best terminal velocity or greatest expansion if a hunting round, or the best grouping if a target shooter.

Stop right where you are, don't move. Now smile and accept the fact that your rifle has spoken to you clearly. Listen to what your rifle has said and act accordingly.
Each rifle is an individual, each one has it's own particular likes and dislikes. All we need to do is offer them enough different recipes until the rifle says "I like it" Stop there and enjoy.

Incidentally, my .308 likes 41 gr of 4895 with the 168 Sierra MK and 43 gr of 4895 with the 155 gr. Sierra Palma match bullet.
