I picked up this Mod 67 last week at one of the local pawn shops. I’ve been looking for a 67 ever since I bought a 15-2 a while back. It was in the back at the pawn shop for quite a while waiting to be put out and finally got put out in the display. It had to sit in the display for a few weeks :( before coming to it’s new home because my offer and the pawn shop price didn’t meet. Well I was in last week and checked it out again. Talked to the owner and negotiated again and this time he agreed on my price

It will need a little TLC and a good cleaning. The finish needs a little work, it has some end shake and the ejector catch needs work so the cylinder doesn’t have side to side movement, and it may need a new tighter cylinder stop as it has some rotation. The rear sight will eventually get re-blued since it’s seen some rough use. It will get a set of Ahernds grips as it came with Pachmayr presentation grips. The internals will eventually get some attention as well.

S&W model 67 no dash

Congrats on your score. I have one that dad gave me that is maybe a couple of years older. Wood grips and no color on the front sight. It is an awesome gun.. Every time I shoot it, it feels right.

Nice to see. The 67 was our issue sidearm when I first entered LE, though the skinny wood grips were quickly replaced with Pachmayrs similar to those pictured on yours (mine had the finger grooves, though. I still have the grips somewhere, but nothing to put 'em on.)
Because I was hired before the academy, the 67 was my training gun before I hit the streets, and then accompanied me on them for the next three years. In the academy, we kept an informal tally of scores as sort of a competition throughout the course. Of 44 people in that program, only seven outscored me. That 67 served me well, as I had had no formal firearms training prior.
