I have been trying to decide what evil new weapon to buy since the AWB expired. I have a pretty well rounded collection, and the AR collapsable stock and 16" barrels do nothing for me since I already have a 20" XM-15 which is great for my uses.
Any hoo, I finally decided that I wanted a full sized Glock to go with my stone reliable G-26 carry gun which has never had an FTF or any other kind or failure in the 5 years and 4,000 or so rounds I have put through it.
The other day I was shooting the G-26 at the range and I was amazed at the good accuracy I get at 25 yards with it, so I decided to get a full size glock either a 17 or a 34, mainly for range work. Went to my favorite local shop after researching prices on the errornet. They have a G17 and a G34 in the case, the G34 has a 3.5lb connector, and adjustible sights and great balance. The cool factor is way high, and its only $605 OTD, $50 more than the G17. Only one problem the 34 has the dreaded 10 round clinton magazines. the 17 at $559 OTD has two 17 rounders.
HMMM well the magazines are only $19.99 on the web and $25 at the gunstore. So I figure the 34 is a better deal and its much cooler than the 17 for rangework and gun games.
So out comes the CARD and I buy it.
Yesterday I head out to the range at lunch to test my new toy out.
Accuracy is great, the trigger is by far the best on any glock I have ever shot. One problem the Crappolla magazines I cant get more than 6 rounds in one and 8 rounds in the other. Then the gun starts to jam, on the next to last round and the last round, the bullets are nose diving into the bottom of the feed ramp.
I even have one jam with a cartridge that jammed before and has a damaged bullet nose were it goes 3/4 into the chamber and the gun locks up, Live round 3/4 in the chamber and I cant get it to eject
:banghead:
so I tap the slide closed with my hand and fire and it fires and ejects, Whwew I thought I was going to have to send a gun with a live round jammed in the chamber back to Glock.
I procede to fire another 50 rounds after dissassembling the gun to make sure there was no damage, with no problems except the occasional mag induced failure.
I call Glock and tell them about my problem. The tech admits that there have been some problems with the 10 round magazines in the G34.
I try to get them to trade me two 17 rounders for my 2 tens, NO DICE,
They will send me two 10 rounders that they have tested in a 34 and they are sure work. They "can't give everyone 17 rounder for their 10s they tell me, and it would not be fair if they did it for me".
Here is a pic of my new gun, and a pic of the jam after hand cycling the last round.
