Hello, my name is James and I am a nurse. I'm originally from east Tennessee but have lived in Michigan for quite a while now, hence the screen name. I grew up shooting rifles and shotguns, no handguns, but I plan to pick up my first pistol this weekend (a 1911 even :D). I'm happy to be a part of this great site, and to help protect our rights.

Greetings from Colorado.

I recently retired from the Army pulling the last six of my 21 year hitch at Fort Bragg NC with the US Army Special Operations Command. My family and I have moved back to Colorado to be near relatives and to get back to the high country.

I like the outdoors and all it brings, hunting, fishing and camping. I look forward to many engaging discussions with you all. Thanks for having me.

I am a new member who stumbled on this forum while looking for information on a Ruger Special Six. I own a old 12 gauge, and an old 22 rifle. I grew up hunting small game but haven't done much in years. I am looking at buying a new shotgun and a couple of pistols.

Thanks for the site and I'll sit back and learn.

Howdy from Kansas!

I'm a regular "gun nut" from way back. I hunt, fish, reload and shoot as much as I can, which is never enough! I have a wide assortment of rifles and handguns, from .22 rimfire to .44Mag. I have a couple of the "dreaded assult weapons" in 30 caliber. I have a CCW in 2 states, and have been carrying daily for about 3 years. I've been an NRA member since 1973, and am a member of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation. I shot 3 position ISU in collage. I'm looking forward to learning and shareing what little knowledge I've picked up over the years with you guys. Thanks for haveing me.

Hey all - I've lurked THR for a little bit and decided to register. I strongly agree with what THR is all about. I'm a proud owner of a Century International Arms GP WASR-10, and I'm looking forward to learning a lot from you guys.

Hi All,
Recently joined this site but have been reading it for a while.

Just getting started with firearms as a hobby and only have collected a few so far. (.22, .40, .357, and a 12 gauge)

Learned much so far from the site, and hope to contribute someday too.

.22, .40, .357, and a 12 gauge
We differ there only in that
I own a .38 instead of a .40.
(What's 0.02"?)
Add a .30-30.

Please allow me to be the first senior member on page 17 to say,
welcome to all the new members. We're glad you're here.

Nurses, gun nuts, retirees, fishers, hunters, lurkers from
Tennessee, Colorado, Kansas, Australia...
what a fine bunch of folks we've attracted.

(As my parents were dying - over a decade ago -
I came to understand that nurses are the healers.
Doctors may "diagnose", and write prescriptions.
But the nurses do the healing.)

Stay awhile. Kick back. Let us know what you need.

As we said here a couple of years ago
(read the archives; SEARCH is your friend),
new members buy the next rnds.

I'll take a box of 158 gr .357,
and a pint of amber ale.

:) ;)

Nem

Thanx for the welcomes Nem.
So many guns so little time (and funds)

With ammo prices going up and up looking into reloading as part of the hobby may not seem like a bad idea.
I think I can get the equipment for free, through a friend?

Greetings and salutations!

Hello all, my name is JT and I'm new here.

I live in Los Angeles so firearms are something I was told to keep away from my whole life. Fortunately I think for myself, and have taken an interest lately.

I work in the entertainment industry as a Prop Master (IATSE LOCAL 44) and I consider myself one of the luckiest men alive because I get to handle firearms in my job. Although they are not always the real thing they are still treated as if they are.

So I am here, to learn more, to ask alot of questions. I am going to buy my first handgun and I'm researching and researching and researching and looking for advice.

It's good to be here and I'm sure you all will see my posts and perhaps answer some of my questions.

Thanks for having me.

-JT

AN INTEREST REKINDLED

This site has been a real find for me and I've learned a lot by reading what others have to say. As a younger man, I used to hunt small game, fish and 'plink' quite a bit but somehow, it seemed to get away from me. I recently went to the range with a friend and the flame was rekindled. I pulled my bearcat and 10/22 out of the attic and was suprised how good a shape they were in after 30 years of benign neglect. It was as if they were saying, "where ya been?". I'm looking forward to my renewed interest in range shooting and am looking at a S/W model 67 as my first new addition to my collection.

howdy gentlemen.

first day i've been to your forums. heard about it on the radio admist the whole zimbo crap. been posting on arfcom and akforum for a while now. so here i am. i'm from western north carolina. I'm a liberal and.. the more evil a gun- the better, a belief firmly held by EVERY one of my friends and family. i'm 25 and just started my little collection about two years ago. it's constantly growing and i haven't met a gun i dont want. I'm in a kick right now where i can't seem to stop buying Ak's and commy block guns. Got two Ak's and a kit for a third one, an yugo sks, and an m44. would have had a norinco sks early this month but i loaned my friend the money to get it- he needed one.

heard about it on the radio admist the whole zimbo crap.
Cigolon and others, welcome. We need some "liberals" in here to balance things a bit. (I keep waiting for some greens to arrive, also, but they seem not to have showed up yet... Me? Apolitical. Politically agnostic. I don't believe in politics, so I just stay away from it.)

Such interesting stories in this thread...

Cigolon, what's the "zimbo crap", please? I just googled the phrase but found nothing recognizable associated with guns. How is THR being referenced in terms of it? Thanks.

New Member

I am a new member here, so I guess I will intruduce myself. My name is Mike, and I shoot anything that I can get my hands on. I really like to hunt, and shoot trap, they are my passions. I shoot a 7mm ultra mag sendero with a 6.5 x 20 zeiss as my main hunting rifle, and a Kreighoff KX-5 for trap. I truly love to shoot. I look forward to asking questions on here and maybe answering some as well.

Urbana John here!!

OK--you guessed it----I'm a newbi to this site, but not to gun ownership or the 2nd Amend.
I live in central Ohio, Life Member of the NRA and the NAHC. I have my Ohio CHP---enjoy camping, fishing, a little hunting and LOTS of reloading!!! Also like to target shoot.
58 yrs. old and not married----Mac, my mixed breed pound puppy, is my "best" friend, and the "boom" of my toys doesn't seem to bother him.
My favorite toys are Beretta's, Rugers, and my Colt AR.
I'm also a poster at UPO.com---it's a new site and we could use some new "voices" and 'ideas".
This seems like a great site with LOTS of "topics"

Hope to become part of your group Thanks John
