I am looking to add to/replace the sights on my Chinese SKS. It shoots great, but the stock sights really suck, to put it mildly.
Right now the options that i am looking at are as follows:
1. Millet scope mount that replaces the rear sight, and allows mounting a red dot sight in a scout configuration. I like the design of this, except for the fact that it replaces the rear sight, so if i ran out of batteries, i could potentially be screwed since i wouldn't have any backup sights.
2. Williams fire sights. These would replace the original sights, and would provide an apature rear sight, and a nice light gathering front sight. The only downside is that i have heard that they are somewhat fragile.
3. The third option is to mount a red dot sight on one of those rear cover mounts. These ofcourse come with their own problems, of not being all that secure, and will they rezero decently after removing the cover for cleaning. But i am not sure how much of a problem this will be when using a red dot sight that cover 3-4 MOA, and when shot between 50-150 yards.
So i would appreciate anyone's input as to what would be the best option out of these choices.
