New to me rifle

My Dad gave me a rifle that has been in the family since my uncle bought it in the 60s. It is a 03 Springfield A4. It is a little rough from being dragged through the swamps and woods hunting. The only modification done was someone cut the top handguard to allow room for a modern scope. It's model # is 5019691.

"...someone cut the top hand guard..." Means you have to track 'em down and hurt 'em. Drops the value from 3 grand or more to under 2 grand. Except it's not an 'A4. S/N's too high. http://oldguns.net/sn_php/mildateslookup.php?file=us_m1903rem4.dat
Can't see the scope base in your picture but it should be a Redfield one piece.
Oh and a regular 40mm front ocular fits just fine with regular rings. Put a 2.5X to 8X Bushnell Scopechief on the '03A4 I have with no fuss.
