OK, I promissed Pic's upon receiving my newest addition, here it is. I took Armed Bear's advice & checked out Magnum Research as a possible solution to a ground-up 10/22 build, and they won me over.

It is wearing a Bushnell Elite 3200 5X15/50 AO that I picked up on GB for $289.00 in Weaver Top Mounts I had rattling around in the mancave. I also ordered the high cheek piece from Blackhawk; it is made for their Axiom stock & not this Knox version, so I had to modify it a bit to get it tight. It works.

What I like: This thing is REALLY light. Also, the stock is field adjustable for LOP, something very handy for my 8 & 12 yr olds. The over-built milled receiver w/ integrated weaver rail seems robust & bullet proof. The graphite / stainless target barrel makes sense on paper; should never be effected by heat. I have not yet tested this as I have not been able to get to the range.

What I don't like: It is almost TOO light. I tend to shoot heavier rigs better. We will see what effect this has on accuracy. The plastic trigger guard, trigger & mag release is an unnexpected let-down for a rifle in this price range. I am sure they will last, but I was expecting higher quality components.

Overall, I am impressed with this rig. I have been frankly looking for the ultimate survival tool, and this should qualify as a true 75 yrd head shot tree-rat getter. I do not see much in the way of small game that would be off limits to this rig, and that means the pot stays full even if the world stops spinning.

I am ready for the jokes to fly over how ridiculously over-scoped this rig is---blast away!

Yeah it would be a great tree rat getter..... Any sunlight through that scope should laser them right off the branch.:D

Anyways, sweet looking rifle you got there. Really cool looking.

I also admit to being a bit confused as to the choice of scope for an 'ultimate survival tool'... especially for blasting squirrels at 75 yards with a .22. But if that what floats your boat!

All that steel out there on bow doesn't make it too front heavy, especially with the minimalist stock?

I think I'd like to shoot that!

Not much steel on this rig. The barrel is mostly graphite; weighs next to nothing. The scope is for precision shooting. Trust me. my eyes require it. Little animals, big scope.

The sunshade isn't to long until it sticks out past the barrel:p

Lots of target shooters like alot of scope, for them tiny targets. Let us know how it shoots!

That seems like A LOT of scope for a 10/22! You wouldn't be shooting past 100yds would you? Having said that, I have to admit that: (a) as my eyes get older, my scopes get more powerful; and (b) it's a pretty cool looking 10/22. I'd like to build something like that in a 7mm or 308.

Looks like a lot of fun. Let us know how you like that scope. I've been looking for a target scope in that price and spec range.

I've got that scope but with the tactical turrets, and 40mm objective, great glass! Even better turrets:)

nice rifle!

That's a cool looking rifle. And I'm with u on big scopes for shooting small groups and head shoooting small animals. I have a 6x18x40 on my 10/22 bull barrel. Way to go!

I'm currently in the process of putting together a 10/22 that will have a Weaver V-16 sitting on top...

It does my heart good to see a configuration that doesn't make my effort look like overkill... :D

...And as others have commented, that's a nice-looking set-up you got there, AKElroy!

.

What weighs more........

..........the rifle or the scope?:D Just bustin' on ya man. Nice rig. How much does the rifle weigh though? I have a 10/22 with a Butler Creek folder on it. Compact, yes. Light, no. Was considering selling it off for a Marlin Papoose (only 3.5 pounds), for packing and camping. Just having too much fun with it with Tactical Inc's 25 rounders to give it up!

In all seriousness, not overscoped at all - a rimfire is a precision tool, and as such, benefits from precision optics.

TOO Light? Nah
Ultimate Survival Tool? Debatable
Pretty danged cool? Oh yeah.

I like that thing! And I agree with mshootnit! Super cool suppressed! Nice job. Way to come up with something unique!

Wow... how do you keep it from tipping over when you hold it?

LOL

J/K

Nice weapon man! Can't wait to hear how she shoots, I know 10/22's are pretty darn accurate anyways, so you should be pleased!
