No ammo returns federal law?

Tis NOT any law, is purely a result of weenies running the corporations in combination with too many lawyers. Top that off with more shipping restrictions and we, the consumer get screwed again.

So, the next time they say "its the law" ask to see the law which they are referring to. Then set back for the ride, don't give in as it will be humorous and educational.

What gun are you shooting it out of? The Winchester stuff is great for revolvers and fixed actioned rifles (levers, bolts, pumps). They may not work so well with some semi-autos. If all you have is a semi, with 3000 rounds of ammo, it seems like you can justify buying another gun to shoot that stuff out of.

winchester 12 gauge birdshot is crap. i avoid it now

i have good luck with the winchester white box stuff. thats what i use through my AR's and pistols.

I sure wouldn't want to fire returned ammo in my guns. Centerfire ammo is an issue. Someone could fire a couple of rounds from a box - and slip a couple of handloads in to make a full box, and then return it.

It's not clear to me that there is as strong a case for refusing returns of rimfire ammo - I don't think that there's a practical method for reloading rimfire.

But then you'd have to train Wal-Mart clerks on the difference between rimfire and centerfire - good luck with that. :)

same thing happened to my father.

a few months ago he went into a local wal mart to pick up a box of winchester 12 gauge birdshot. you know, the value pack boxes.

well, at that particular time, all the boxes were behind the counter. so my father had to ask the sales guy for what he wanted. he received the ammo, paid, and left without incident.

after getting home, he discovered the salesman had actually given him the 20 gauge ammo instead of 12. obviously pissed, he took the ammo back and explained the situation to the return counter.

I'm laughing because a similar thing just happened to a co-worker except his was slugs. I told my co-workers the "Federal Law" excuse was BS, so I googled that and found this thread.

This policy seems like an excuse for some stores to sell recalled ammunition and to claim that they can not accept ammunition returns under any circumstances. If I were sold recalled ammunition I would consider disputing the charge on the credit card on the grounds that they illegally sold recalled merchandise.
