Hey there ya'll, could someone tell me where i might sign up for some sort of shooting match in ohio? i'm new to the sport, but i've shot stuff since i was little, i guess i'm looking for more of a youth thing this summer since i'm not quite 18 yet, but any info would help. i read something about a shoot out at camp perry, and a couple of IDPA shoots, but since then i've forgoten, could somebody help me out? thanks in advance!

Friend, I don't know about IDPA or IPSC in your area, but if you're interested in Conventional Pistol (aka Bullseye shooting) you're in the right spot!

The two biggest Bullseye matches in the country are held in your State. The NRA National Championships are held every year at Camp Perry, which is along US 2 on the shores of Lake Erie. Whatever your flavor--black powder, smallbore, pistol, revolver, or rifle--it is fired there between June and August of each year. Entrance fees vary, and you must be an NRA member in good standing. Check out www.nra.org for more details.

The Canton Regionals are usually the precursor for Camp Perry--at least the Conventional Pistol phase. Most of the competitors for Camp Perry use this match as a warm-up. I don't know how to get in touch with them directly, but do a search of the Canton area.

BigJake,

There is an action pistol match off some sort nearly every weekend.

Let me know where you are and I can point you to some.

There is a NRA Action Pistol (Bianchi Cup) match in Circleville this Saturday (which I will likely shoot). There is an USPSA match near Cincy on Sunday. And a non-afiliated (but great match) near St. Clairsville/Woodsfield this Sunday (which I will likely shoot).

Rayner's Range, near Zanesville runs great USPSA matches...as does Circleville.

Let me know if I can help you out.
