A couple of days ago I posted about fitting my Security Six with speedloaders and a flap holster. OK, I got the speedloaders straightened out, but I contacted Triple K to see which line of revolvers was closest to the Security Six, since that is not listed as a holster in the size menu. They have responded neither to email or voice mail, and the lady on the phone was a little curt with me (she sounded a little dubious that there was such a pistol as a Security Six). I was tempted to blow them off, but I can't find another leather flap holster, so I gotta go with them and figure out which size holster works with the Security Six.

Preacherman suggested that the Security Six was closer in size to a K-frame S&W rather than a GP-100. He is pretty infrequently wrong around here, but I though I would see if anyone had any specific experience with matching the Security Six to a Triple-K holster.

I'm not too familiar with Triple K, and cannot abide rudeness or ignorance at a company.

I suggest that you contact El Paso Saddlery instead. There will be a long wait, but the holster will be heirloom quality.

If you happen across a used Bianchi holster marked for the K-frame S&W, it should fit the Security-Six. I've used several Bianchi rigs with the Ruger over the years. Ditto for older Safailand models.

The Ruger GP-100 needs a holster marked for L-frame S&W's or Colts, like the Python.

Is that the same Triple K that makes the magazines? Some of the worst magazines I have ever owned came from them.

As a rule any holster made for a K-frame S&W will fit a Ruger Security Six, but there are sometimes issues with the length of the safety strap, if there is one. A full-flap holster shouldn't give you any problems unless you have oversided target grips on the gun.

Finding holsters for older revolvers can be a pain, now that we live in the Age of Automatics. However I've found a lot of excellent high-quality leather at gunshows (and occasionally local dealers) that were either law enforcement surplus or came with a gun that was traded in but not included when the gun was sold.

For example I returned from a Tucson gun show today with a name-brand "classic" shoulder holster that was used but in excellent condition that cost me $45.00 - a similar new rig would have run three time that, if I could find one that fit my Colt Detective Special. Had I been left handed I could have picked up top-quality leather holsters for many older revolvers - including 3" J-frame S&W's - for as little as $5.00 apeice. :what: :D

Most leather holsters for the K frames will fit with some work.

Old Fluff is right on the money about revolver holsters. I've had revolvers like the Police Positive Special that nobody makes leather for anymore. But dig around enough in the bargain bins and you can find some very nice revolver rigs for next to nothing. One pawn shop in town has a big box full of good condition duty holsters, apparently from a police trade-in when they went to bottom feeders. I've picked up $100 holsters there for $5.

Oh Darn!!!

I had three dealers offer me some high quality rigs for Colt's police Positive Specials, but I passed as I was looking for something to fit a plain ol' Police Positive ... :banghead: The best would have run me maybe $15.00.

I don't know what I'd do without those junk boxes.
