This is probably old school stuff, but it is new to me. I'm old school anyway
I'm almost 70. JUst got a good deal well under 400 for this. A Ruger Service
Six in 357. I polished it up a little. Holster was about 2 inches too long so I cut it off, didn't want it showing out the bottom of my coat. I think it was made for a longer revolver. Ruger was made in 1984. Only been shot about
40 times with 38 special. I gave it a good cleaning and here it is. Old School.

Good deal. The guns built on the Security six platform are, imho, the best double actions Ruger made. I have four. That said, my SP101, with a twenty dollar trigger job, has the best sa/da of any gun I own except for my 624 Smith.

I've got one like that and 1 with a 4 inch barrell but mine no longer have the factory grips (too small for my hands) I also have a security 6 with a 4 inch barrell. Really tough guns, handle hot .357 loads well, yours is shinny.

Nice find. I recently picked up a 6" security six (not that nice). If you want I'll pay what you paid.:D

Thats a nice piece. And your pics are really nice. I had a six inch Security Six quite a few years ago, traded it in on something. I used simichrome polish on it once in awhile, good product.

Now if I could just get some decent ammo for it. I've been out of relolading
for about 35 years, and it looks like that might be what I have to do. The
only two factory loading I think has any promise is the Buffalo Bore 125 gr.
heavy load at 1450 in my gun, or the Federal C357B which should go 1250.
The Buffalo Bore uses the Montana Gold bullet which is not too good for
expansion but they get a lot of speed, the Federal I think is loaded down a
little from what it once was to 1250, but the bullet really blows up, which is
good for my carry gun. So what is left? If I reload, I am going to use H-110
at about 21.5 to 22 grs. and the Hornandy 125 gr. bullet. This should give me
1450 same as the Buffalo Bore, but I think a better bullet for expansion.
Anyway that's the way this old man see's it at this time. About 40 years ago
I had to reload my Ruger 45 Colt to get any performance from it and mebby
I have to do the same for the 357. Back then I was pushing 250 gr bullets
out of the 4 3/4 barrel at 1300 fps. I guess today with all the modern powders
and guns that's nothing now. Oh well I'm getting to old for all of this.
Thank you all for the nice comments on my new pistol. Phil

Take a lighter to the loose threads on the holster to prevent the stitching coming out.

The Ruger Sixes are cool!

You might consider switching to a larger combat grip, with those velocities you're going to have some stout recoil!;)
