No threads about this shooting show??? seems better than Sons of guns and Top shot so far....

It's not exactly a shooting show since firearms are a only a single "challenge" out of all of the challenges on the show.

The first episode did illustrate how difficult it is to be accurate with your breathing and pulse rate elevated.

Survivor is no more realistic than any of the so-called Reality shows.

Suns of Guns is pseudo entertaining if you really don't know much about guns or gun safety.

Top Shot has some interesting challenges, but is corrupted by the fabricated drama between competitors.

One Man Army, while admittedly I haven't watched it, reminded me of another show called Special Ops Missions, on the Military channel (which is part of Discovery).

No gun shows are directly aimed at the demographic that largely encompasses THR. We know too much and will nit pick safety and terminology that the average joe either doesn't know about, or doesn't care about. Gun guru's are not the target demographic. Not saying I'm a gun guru, but I know more than average joe, I assume, who is the target demographic.

Personally, I'd rather spend an hour shooting than an hour watching a TV show about other people shooting.

True, but they wouldn't get much of an audience without the drama. I think the number of true enthusiasts who would sit down to watch a real show about firearms is small compared to the number of folks just looking to be entertained by an unrealistic, over-dramatized "reality" show.

It looks like it will be another show like American Gladiators.
I liked Special Ops Mission but they only did one season and like 6 episodes. I liked how they used simunitions and actually shot at each other.

I think its set up.. I mean really the guys beats outs Delta guys then says " well the army should have excepted me but they didn't cause I was gay "
Like really?

Anyway before It gets shutdown over little old me I'll bring it back on firearms. I don't remember seeing a rifle just the pistol. But how heavy do you think those cubes where?
( I only saw the first episode )

I tried to watch it last night but it was immediately turned off on account of an annoying mechanical voice that is used to read off firearm facts and target hits.. reminiscent of a robot voice from an old sci-fi B movie

I like some of their challenges. Like the water saw thing, and the 5 fences... Man, those guys look exhausted!

I saw it the other night. It was "okay" but not worth going out of my way to watch.

The host speaks in a quiet monotone voice. The voice reminds me ALOT of Casey Casem doing a song dedication for a person who recently lost a loved one. (He even looks a tiny bit like him.) However, it's
slightly better than hosts that scream and get too excited over everything.

I did prefer the Special Ops Mission show on The Military Channel. It was fun to watch guys actually compete with simmunitions and in groups. The show did get a little bit repetitive and occasionally seemed staged too.

I think the show would be better if it was done in a single elimination bracket format leading up to two guys for the finale. (They could still do 3 challenges for every round with the best total score going to the next bracket.) The challenges could change at every level of advancement but IMHO should be the same for everyone in each round of competition. Also, I would like to NOT see any competitors that are d-bags with inflated egos. I have personally known three SEALS in my life. (Combined years of service ranged from Vietnam through a few years after Desert Storm, basically the entire length of the program excluding the late 90's through the present.)
All three of them were relatively nice guys and not arrogant. They never bragged about it or acted superior to anyone because of it. Personally, I prefer to see members of our military with good attitudes showcased over ones with a large ego and inflated self-image. Although, it was AWESOME to watch the guy who was bragging SO HARD go and completely FAIL at kicking in a door. (I don't think I could do better BUT you won't see me bragging about being some tough operative.)

Anyway, the show isn't bad but it isn't great either.
