Not all bullets are created equal either, so that is why you still have to experiment with different bullet weights and see which one will work best in your rifle. Optimal bullet length for a 1:11 twist would be somewhere about 1.30 inches, which should be any bullet between 165 to 185 grains.
Hello,
I have a Sako TRG-41 300 mag these loads have been through the TRG-41 by the orig owner 150gr ballistic tips, 165gr
ballistic tips, 168, 175gr Sierra matchkings, 200gr Sierra gamekings ,200 Sierra BTHP match . I've also tried
different powders: IMR 4064, Accurate 8700, reloder 22 - all of these give me
less than half minute. The fact that all of these different loads shoot about
equally well leads me to believe that I haven't yet found the perfect load for
this gun. I think 220gr bullets over Accurate 8700 is something that needs to be
tried. Oh, I've used some factory 180gr loads - those shoot about .7 MOA at 100
and 600 yards. in my testing so far Sierra BTHP match 168/175/200 all have been 1/2 moa the rifle even shot a Win SuperX 180 grn hunting bullet at 1/2 moa
