Buying a CZ 75 Compact 9 mm and wondering about the differences between sights, SA-only, DA/SA, weight of trigger pull

Been looking at the Custom CZ pistol sites, some custom work might work for both SD/HD and sshooting sports and some probably a very bad idea (hair trigger)

Best idea is to get your gun set up for SD. Good trigger, good sights, total reliability, decent accuracy.

Then practice like heck till you can use it well in the shooting sports.

For local matches I use a Glock 26, NY1/3.5 lb connector, plain sights, plain shape. For state matches I use a Glock 17 set up the same way.

And my CCW Glock? A Glock 33 also set up the same way.

For the CZ 75 Compact, just get an action tune to give a smooth DA pull and a SA release ~4lbs. Plain black sights work best with the possible option of the fiber optic front.

Get plenty of magazines...I usually recommend 10

Thanks, 10 mags maybe a bit much for me. Not for competition, enjoyment and learning to shot well. Thinking about the CGW defensive carry package with a fiber optic front

CZ 75 just arrived

Never handled on before. Never shot a sa/da pistol before, just 1911's.

I'm surprised!, very long and heavy da, heavy sa. Heavy compact, empty.

Going to take getting use to. No problem resting the finger on the trigger.

Probably well need a better front sight.

Mr. 9mmepiphany, where do I go from here. Have CZ 75 Compact 9 mm, this pistol should be able to handle 124 gr P+ and 147 gr P+ loads. Should re-turn to target a bit quicker and be a little steadier.

Leave the action bone-stock? Leave the front sight stock, or pain over?

Thanks for the support

I will try to learn the DA, will not be easy. Would hate to change it to SA only.

The first thing is to shoot it to set a baseline with the stock action

I'd start with just generic 115gr 9mm to see where it prints for you and how tight it will hold...start at 3-5 yards and shoot at 1" dots or squares. It's OK to start out in SA and even shoot it off a rest, if you can't hold quite that well. Since this is your first CZ, I wouldn't change the sights yet.

We live close enough to each other, maybe we can get together and I can take a look at your technique
